When it's reverse then yes. More anecdotally, e.g. Reverse swing: an English tale | The Cricket Monthly | ESPN CricinfoHas there even been any research to prove that the typical methods people use to tamper with the ball actually help produce more swing? It's taken as a given that it has a massive affect but from experience I struggle to believe using finger nails or dirt would have a bigger impact than maintaining a quality shine or the conditions.
He took cues from Zaheer, who tied England in knots during the 2007 series. But most of Anderson's own development - not just reverse - relied on his own intuition, ably supported by the English system, particularly at the ECB Performance Centre in Loughborough. This hub, slap-bang in the middle of a university complex, has become a cloud for vast amounts of information on reverse swing. Information such as a breakdown of how long on average it takes for different red balls around the world to start reversing (30 overs for Dukes, 40 to 50 for the Kookaburra, and 10 to 15 for the SG used in India).
The conspiracy theorist in me is actually wondering whether CA is purposefully feeding the media frenzy and threw Smith under the bus by telling him to say what he said in his presser. It would be payback by Peever and the board to the players for standing up to them last time around. Their way of breaking player solidarity for the future. One big reason Cricket Australia would probably be happy for Warner to be the fall guy for this is how he took such an active leadership role in last year’s pay dispute (and Smith was largely absent).
Thats why Cook is still opening for England...does bugger all with the bat, but has really dry hands................................This. The rough side has to be dry for the ball to reverse to create the correct conditions where an envelope of air forms over one side of the ball. So teams generally give the person who sweats the least the responsibility for polishing it. Bowlers don't usually get that responsibility since they're running in hard and working up a big sweat and fielding at fine leg.
A hypothetical marriage break down is a pretty odd thing to be having a giggle at tbh. What would Warner do if his wife left him eventually? All this could be called retaliation for qdk's dig in the beginning.
Yeah at the cost of losing sponsorship deals and scale downs in negotiating broadcasting deals ? Sutherland has seen quite a few summers at the top not to bite the hands that feed. The conspiracy theorist in me is actually wondering whether CA is purposefully feeding the media frenzy and threw Smith under the bus by telling him to say what he said in his presser. Spoken by someone who has undoubtedly never gone through it.A hypothetical marriage break down is a pretty odd thing to be having a giggle at tbh.
According to Crash Craddock in the Melbourne Sun today this is the reason.I hardly think that’s it. Smith has lost the captaincy and he won’t be getting it back. It’s more likely to be tied into Warner being a dickhead on and off the field for a long time and people are jack of it.
Obviously.Spoken by someone who has undoubtedly never gone through it.
Seems like the opposite is actually more likely. Warner was the catalyst for everything, Smith either just took most of the blame or went along with it because he's weak-willed. Pure speculation of course but it makes more sense than "they're throwing poor Warner to the wolves to protect evil genius captain Smith"I actually love watching Warner bat
Trying to fix all the blame on Warner and making him pay for what the whole team was surely in on though is super weak. Seems like an attempt to protect Smith the poor wittle captain who was screwed over by his deputy.
