***Official*** Australia in South Africa 2018

On the news they called this a ''bad-tempered series'' and I am struggling to remember a series this particular Australian team played that wasn't bad-tempered? It seems every series Lehman/Smith's side play, there are numerous sledgy dramas, cheating accusations and embittered press conferences, albeit with the Ashes it was more a case of England playing intro the Australian's hands by being on the piss for the entire time. I mean the Indian series had the DRS cheating thingy. Every series Smith's Australians play has a load of negative drama.

Its bad tempered because someone stood up and didnt take any nonsense
I just think Lehman, Smith and Warner especially cannot simply go out and play cricket. They view barracking, sledging - and clearly now cheating - as integral aspects of the sport.

I tend to agree with that.....The last ashes series, England had to hang there shamefaced as the bairstow head butting nonsense took place...With Smith and Bancroft having a laugh over a non incident at a press conference...bit of a difference between that comedy and last nights eh?
South Africa have simply stood up to them, both on and off the field of play....and look who cracked?

Wrong place, wrong time. This being a Sunday certainly contributed to the magnitude of the reaction. Australian Twitter has been in meltdown all morning. I don't see how this is a bigger offence than 'brainfade' in India but most people didn't care or even know about it. When the Australian PM gets involved by Sunday afternoon, ICC had to take quick action.
Mate no one in Australia listens to the PM. He’s a dead man walking.

Smith won't get more than maybe the next series. Not sure it is any worse than getting help on reviews. What's caused the outrage is as much the cumulative nature of events over the past 18 months. There is clearly a culture in the team which is all wrong. Someone like Gilchrist who was honest, tough, competitive and gracious should be given an input to get Australian international cricket back to where it once was.

Shame all this controversy has pretty much killed the series which, quite frankly has been of very high quality Cricket.

We won't be seeing a 4-test series between these two teams any time soon.

Forgot to check the scores yesterday and then saw FB blowing up today. Wtf is going on with this team under Boof? There's no way he's not at the center of all the issues. Smiths captaincy has always had issues when he's behind in games but this was stupidity of the highest level. There's no good candidates to step in as captain either. Paine won't be there long term, only Warner and Smith are stays in the batting and bowling captains haven't been an Aussie thing in a while.

Not sure why people want to go light on Bancroft. He agreed to do it. Free choice.

Sanction imposed is a complete and utter joke..as usual, Australia gets away with anything as far as the ICC is concerned..toothless and hapless..

If you're a new guy, it's hard to say no in that situation. Not saying he doesn't bear responsibility but the bigger culprit is definitely Steve Smith.

I heard something about lifetime ban? C'mon guys. That's ridiculous. Ban for a couple games. Move on. It's fine. So not a big deal.

which is how the ICC seem to have gone about it. eminently sensible. but the cricket teams been turned into a bit of a laughing stock and thats not going to sit well with the australian cricket board, i imagine.

Graeme Smith said how this side is different from other Aussie teams he has seen as they are always far too concerned about off field stuff etc.

Be very disappointing if that will be the case.

We've always played hard cricket against one another and in many ways have similar strengths and weaknesses so these shoot-outs of pace attacks is what always gets the blood flowing.

Hopefully common sense prevails.
