If he keeps going at the rate he is he'll surpass Tayfield's tally before too long, and he'll have done it on a lot of South African wickets that may not have been as spin-friendly as the ones that Tayfield bowled on. The fast bowlers are the ones making all the headlines, but Maharaj has consistently been in the wickets - 70 at 27.7 is no mean feat.

We got to remember Vogler & Faulkner were our main attacking threats and had to bowl us to series wins.

Tayfield and Adcock started more or less together and then added Heine later where Goddard was there before them. I suppose Tayfield had support. But for so long he was the man and out-bowling spinners considered the best in the world for England at the time.
