What a catch!... WHAT. A. CATCH.

After seeing Williamson's 'marvellous' catch today I couldn't help but start this thread for a bit of fun. I'm asking you guys to vote for what you believe to be the greatest catch taken in the television era of cricket. Firstly, I'll ask anyone who's interested to submit some nominations, & then the voting process will transpire in private, via an email account I will set up soon. Once the votes are tallied I will present the winners in an awards night kind of format. The following awards will be up for grabs.

- ATG catch: Richie Benaud Memorial Medal. (any category).
- Greatest WK's catch.
- Greatest slip/gully catch.
- Greatest outfield catch.
- Greatest c&b.
- Plus greatest Test, ODI & T20I & Domestic catch of all time (if applicable).

Well see how this goes & if it gets any steam. If interested, please feel free to throw down some nominations. Maximum of six nominations per person & each nomination really should be able to be found on Youtube somewhere to be considered valid. Also open for suggestions.

Greatest slip/gully catch.

Williamson would have a couple of contenders in the gully. Some from the 2014/15 (or 13/14?) home summer were spectacular.

Strauss ashes 2005 a contender for great slip catch (was it off Gilchrist to make it even better?).

Personally I would split the categories. I reckon gully catches are probably harder.

I'd also split Greatest outfield catch into 2 categories.

ring field catches. (usually reactionary, fast)
outfield 'proper' catches (effort to cover distance, maybe a navigating the rope/fence etc is a factor).

There’s so many. Now you see all these ones where blokes toss the ball to a team mate on the boundary. 20 years ago they weren’t even a thing. Every generation brings more athleticism and skill to fielding. It’s a great development in the game.

Yep, wanted to mention this one. A pretty thick leading edge straight off the bat to silly point to his wrong hand. The difficulty level is off the charts.

Yeah, I agree with both points about separating slip/gully catches & infield/outfield catches. I'll split infield/outfield now, & depending on numbers, I may just split slips/gully too. Gully is an extremely difficult place to field. The problem I found was you have that split-second to think about what you're doing as the ball comes to you, which can disturb your natural reflexes.
