There's a "negative bowling" rule in place but it's a lot more difficult to get legside trash actually called wides because of it in practice.

Exactly, it was Day 2 FFS. Perhaps if it was Day 3 you could argue they were going too slowly, but it was hardly like they were deadbatting pies.

ABdV batting at his best is definitely a cut above Smith's best. Smith's strength is more his sheer consistency.

I feel we made a few too many after the 98 opening partnership tbh.
