Spurs at the moment are like a sort of meat grinding factory that chews other teams up. Will be interesting to see how Juve go against them. Dembele getting back to his ridiculous best makes such a difference.

They're also a very fit team, few can keep up with them.

Imagine having the financial resources United have and somehow have Jones/Smalling at the heart of your defense:laugh:

That was a very odd performance from Pogba today, can blame formations and manger to an extent, but still not doing many of the basics right either.

Lukaku will probably get hammered online as he always does and while I don't think he is an elite striker, do genuinely believe he has been decent recently, his play outside the box much improved and can't really blame him for others crap finishing.

Pogba was injured, no? Something to do with his thigh in warmup.

Although that begs the question as to why he played for over an hour...

I think that might have been Lukaku's best game for us, first real signs that he could develop the link-up/hold-up play necessary to become top-level.

Pogba shouldn't have played, and Mourinho was right to drop him last week. For all his strengths his positional discipline is a joke and you can't accept that in big games. But it's a sign of Mourinho's poor management that he hasn't developed the slightest bit of defensive positional sense in a year and a half with us.

Bit strange how we don't concede many goals but so many of those we do are so utterly basic. Suggests a personnel problem and Smalling is particularly turd, Matic blatantly needs about a month off. But again Mourinho has control of transfers, and they've ranged from qualified successes to total flops.

Yeah the Pogba situation is a mess at the moment. He should at least have been hooked at half time as he was pointless the whole game whether it was him sulking or more likely injury affected.

You go on twitter etc, and many seem to agree a midfield of two does not showcase him that good. I agree, however Jose has to take some criticism for not resolving this, he has had 3 windows and we are no closer to seeing peak Juve Pogba on a regular basis.

Matic is dead, but a rest is not coming when you look at the alternatives. I don't think United employing a 2 man midfield cost them today the win as there was enough quality on the pitch to compensate , but seeing how tired he was when he was subbed he won't have appreciated the line up either.

Lukaku? He was good today, not his fault the service was non existent especially from the full backs. I actually think his best performance was against Leicester where he set up 3 golden chances with some lovely play and were all fluffed.

It took an off day from United and our best game of the season, including a brand new goalkeeper playing out of his skin, but we just about scraped it.

That's nice of you.

This is the same lineup from Tottenham and it was about the same performance. It's totally unbalanced upfront and hes asking Pogba to be a cdm. Sanchez, Lukaku, Martial with Lingard behind has just failed twice in a row. The jokers in defense really have me worried for the CL.

He’s not asking him to be a CDM at all. He’s basically asking him to play the role Cazorla did at Arsenal before the injury, or what Dembele does at Spurs. If he would apply himself at the most basic level it would really suit his strengths.

He’s a very likeable footballer and Mourinho... is not likeable, so I get why the latter is taking the blame. But it’s not been good enough from either.
