Rather have Rahane over Karthik any day in ODIs. At least the former has proven class and could be useful in a 25/3 type situation.

It will be AB and Farhaan in for Zondo and Miller in the batting.

Basically a Titans batting line-up bar Amla and JP but there is QdK and Faf on the side lines.

Would like to see Shamsi again. When he needs to stand up he hasn't. Time him for him to do so.

Probably Morkel back in for Lungi ?

Yeah Roussow definitely had a high ceiling in LO games. Would have easily slotted into this side. But let's hope someone stands up.
Rossouw was a risk-taker but a good one so whilst he could fail he had the ability to score from ball one like he had been batting a while.

I miss him as an option in this form of the game.

Roussow was particularly short sighted I felt.

Would have been a central part of the SA ODI XI in the 2019 WC.

Love Neil Mac. So happy to have him on comms but possibly missing his knowledge of batting with the Proteas.

Bringing back the names there on his dressing room insert... zander de bruyn, matthew street, adam bacher - some proper tvl, gauteng, Lions cricketers there.

Shamsi's form couldn't be ignored so was picked ahead of keshav. Big Vern has never been the best with the white ball more suited to red/pink ball cricket.
If you look at Philander's ODI stats, after 30 matches he averages 24,04 with the ball with an economy of 4.62. And since most of those ODIs have been reasonably recent, that does suggest that he's improved with the white ball and is surely worth considering.

I wonder why don't they select Kallis as batting coach. He was best batsmen again spin. Not sure whether Dale Benkenstein is really capable of this job. Look at this:-

Dale Benkenstein

Mat Runs HS Ave SR 100 50
23 305 69 17.94 65.87 0 1

Jacques Kallis

Mat Runs HS Ave SR 100 50
328 11579 139 44.36 72.89 17 86

And I am not even speaking about his bowling record, Test statistics.

LOL yet another 50. :D

If he gets dismissed for 100 or so today, his average for the series will drop by about a 100. :D

Not sure how this surface is...probably not a batting paradise, but it shouldn't spin much and there's bounce - and Johannesburg's usual trajectory when the ball is hit in the air. AB is back - so the 2nd half should be interesting
