Chetashwar Pujara creates history as he took 54 deliveries to score his first run!
Fortunately Pujara is the third on the list of facing maximum deliveries before scoring -- behind Stuart Broad [62] and Rajesh Chauhan [57].
He should be kicking himself. The record was there for the taking.

Although he's further down the list anyway if you include innings where the batsmen didn't get off the mark in the end. Anderson's 55-ball duck and Geoff Allott's 77-baller spring to mind.

Wait, you mean India are 4/114 at lunch and it's SA who are getting criticised for sloppiness? Not Vijay or Kohli for playing a loose drive against the moving ball or Rahane for missing a half volley on the pads?

Rajesh Chauhan once scored 1 in 100 balls or so iirc

The #intent nonsense is infecting all of you
Agreed, and this is what you call real intent, Pujara never takes the easy way out. He would have looked stupid if he would have got out for 0 off 54 deliveries, but he has that confidence, he knows he can survive for long and cash in at the right time. Plus, it gets easier for the rest of the order if the top 3 can hold the fort and tire out the bowlers.
