Well bowled but not particularly well played. Can’t be too critical third ball though

As long as Starc has some overs left, I guess you're never really out of it. Absolute gun ODI bowler.

Strange captaincy, bad selections and overbowling of Travis Head (again) aside, the bowlers have done okay here. If they had a proper total, say 320, to defend, then this would be a serious game.
Amazing they’re still in it despite those issues and playing badly majority of the match.

Could just tell the previous over that Starc was getting on song.

Probably think Warner should be ODI captain; notable how Oz turned around as ODI side once he took over as captain on 2016 SL tour. Smith’s record as ODI captain outside Oz is dire and if he starts losing home ODI series, should he be a lock as cap till the WC?
Should he even be lock in Playing XI? Comfortably the worst LOI player of Fab Four

I think there's an argument now that only Warner and Starc would be certs to get into this England team now IMO. Don't see how Australia are going to win at the World Cup with this team.
Nice theoretical quesion:
Who would be dropped for Warner, were he a Pom?

Hey, another wicket. Root to steadily get England in after 49.2 overs. Nothing to see here.

He's definitely better than Roy at least.

**** me, Starc is going to be insane in the 2019 WC. If they get into the KO stage, I wouldn't want the team I am supporting to face him.

Yes, we should drop the guy averaging 43 in ODIs and three WC knockout 50+ scores because cricket only started being played in 2016.
Even then...he's in a bit of a slump but before that he was going great guns.

Surely Smith would be a cert?

Think a couple of our bowlers would crack the side too, as good as England's bowling is I don't rate their bowling all that much.
And where would he bat? team would be (Averages last 2 years):

Warner (60.31)
Bairstow (57.57)
Hales (47.82)
Root (70.26)
Stokes (55.30)
Buttler (41.27)
Bowlers

Smith has only averaged 44 in the past 2 years in ODI's, so unless you're only playing 4 bowlers + Stokes I don't see how you get him into the team. Hazlewood would get in too, forgot about him with him not playing.

EDIT: And even if you do go with 4 bowlers there's a strong argument for Morgan as captain (Warner would be skip in the team above IMO).

I mean, you are surely picking him above Hales? I know he goes against the approach but at some point you just pick the much, much, much, much better cricketer.
