Yes....he's still probably our second best ODI batsman at worst. Not as good as he is in Tests but he's still a very fine ODI player.

Smith has only averaged 44 in the past 2 years in ODI's, so unless you're only playing 4 bowlers + Stokes I don't see how you get him into the team. Hazlewood would get in too, forgot about him with him not playing.

EDIT: And even if you do go with 4 bowlers there's a strong argument for Morgan as captain (Warner would be skip in the team above IMO).

I mean, you are surely picking him above Hales? I know he goes against the approach but at some point you just pick the much, much, much, much better cricketer.
