Remarkable that five wickets have fell and Ashwin hasn’t got any so far. He will fancy Rabada and Morne but he needs to support the quicks here and not the other way around.

QdK still only 25. Needs some time in the middle and perhaps chats with Neil Mac or an ODI series :D

Thinking back to Lord's test when he last looked himself ?

I hope people atleast admit now that QdK really wouldn't have helped all that much against india in 2015. Would've basically been a free wicket for Ashwin.

It's odd how there are several otherwise quality players today who play off spin so terribly. QdK, Rahane, Khawaja, just to name a few. I don't think it's been this prevalent before.

Thing is, I've seen him attack spin well when playing his best - inside out over the top, late cut and reverse sweep he is all very good at.

Definitely not confident at the moment for whatever reason.

I'd like to credit the rise of orthodox finger spin in world cricket to all the hate for orthodox finger spin on CW

Our breed thrives off your scorn and disrespect

please explain how DRS causes batsmen to nick off more than they used to.
It's not just about nicking off. In another era, they'd kick away most balls on the stumps much more. Nowadays you need to use your bat way more often with the fear of a DRS lbw.

Nah this definitely makes sense. Left handers used to be able to play for turn against off spinners more as long as they got a good stride on and had bat and pad together. The threat of getting beaten on the inside edge and being given lbw is greater so they have to cover that more, and it's created more nicks too.

This should be no shame for offies though. If anything it just shows they were getting screwed by umpires for decades, and probably still largely are at levels below international cricket. :p

Also, we play more on finger spin friendly decks than we ever used to. India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the UAE, the West Indies are all now finger-spin friendly decks. It's only SA, England, Aus and Kiwiland that have real decks these days.

Think it's helped SLAs even more than offies tbh.
Yep, definitely. If you look at what I said here:

.. you can just sub in "right handers", and there are more of those.

Since my rant against Ashwin being unable to build pressure, he has bowled 3 maidens in 6 overs.

I should do that more tbh.
