He was pretty good after a bad first spell in the first Test tbh. Awful here though. His fitness level is atrocious.
I wonder how long he has gone in his career in terms on overs bowled at a stretch before being injured. Must not be many. So many injuries .. they should make a call and look at others maybe.

It was a bit dull so I was doing other stuff and had it on in the background. If this wicket truly is not as flat as it appear then India will have problems when they bat. They really need to wrap these wickets up quickly.

It's such a shame. He's definitely going down the route of Munaf Patel. He needs to work on his strength and fitness. It's something that can be trained...I hope he doesn't lose it because he's definitely one guy who's got everything going for him. Pace, bounce, swing, reverse swing and has the potential to be a complete bowler.

Was this pitch unentertaining just because it helped spin a bit? Come on. I actually thought it did a bit for the pacers at times, but Bumrah and Shami bowled trash. I expect SA to get much more out of it.
Surely Shami was the most disappointing of the trio ?

Parthiv seems to be around since ages even before Dhoni who came and left test cricket. But even after that parthiv could not cement his place in team and saha grabbed it. I was thinking why he is always selected as back up and not other young WK. Mind you Parthiv may look like child but he is almost nearing 33. But to my surprise I could only find few notable young names in Indian circuit such as Rishabh Pant,Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan. But it seems none of them were any sort of form in recently concluded domestic tournament so I guess selectors had no choice but parthiv.. Pls no dinesh for me. He too had may chances and I guess we need a young promising wk.

Do you have any promising wk in mind who can bat too apart from those three who may be groomed for test team?

I'd have definitely taken 260-6 at the start of the day. Felt a bit like the recent Sydney Test where England were doing alright at 230-3 or so before Root/Bairstow/Malan threw it away at the end of the day.
Pitch reminds me of that one too.

I've read that their glovework isn't as good. Parthiv also has credit in the bank from the England series.

It was not actually unentertaining. It's was a pretty standard Day 1 where the batting side batted well for most part and India coming back later in the day made it more interesting. But the reason it feels unentertaining is because it follows one of the most intense and high action test matches in recent times. The first test had a lot more action and edge of the seat entertainment. Most test matches are not going to be like that but yes when you get used to a wicket any minute and ball hooping around, you do feel like this one doesn't have the same value.

Probably because Ashwin's taken wickets in it. A lot of ****s now are probably gonna have to bow down.

Pant just hit a T20 hundred off 32 balls chasing a target of 144. 116* off 38 balls in the end and the chase was over in 11 overs. Saha and Patel are done I guess. **** Kohli for selecting Pant for the test side in the future.

It's Dhoni holding Pant back more than anyone else. Wasn't he a part of the ODI squad for a couple of series before Karthik forced his way in?

New ball given to Ishant instead of Shami (assuming Bumrah will bowl from the other end). Fair.

They have data on how fast the pitch was back to at least 2010. Wonder why they don't show interesting stuff like that more often.

Very good start by Bumrah. Faf is having trouble with him bringing the ball back into him.

Bumrah is doing what I said earlier. Looking great while tucking batsmen up, but not hitting the stumps or targeting the outside edge. Needs to bowl a serious ripper if he's to get wickets in this manner which doesn't seem like a sustainable strategy for Test cricket.
