We'll have to agree to disagree on his strategy in the first innings of the first Test. I think he had the right idea and if he bats in a similar manner throughout this series, for me, he'll be the leading runscorer, if the pitches are as bowler-friendly as they were at Newlands. Your point originally was about his limited strokeplay and it being a poor strategy by waiting for the bowler to err in his line and bowl too straight.I would be more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt if he hadn't played like this on four or five overseas tours now with only limited success.
Again, this would all be fine if he had a really comfortable back foot game. That's my problem here. As it is, he's playing at too much and scoring off too little, which is really the worst of both worlds.
Yeah this is just flat out wrong IMO. Kohli, Rahane, Vijay all have techniques that are more suited to the conditions than Pujara's.
First class average of 7, with a highest score of 12 not out, so the answer is no. He has only played 9 first class matches, but it does appear as though 11 is his usual spot in all forms of the game.SA needs Morris' batting. Ngidi can't bat, right?
Yeah Ngidi cant bat, although extremely small sample size.SA needs Morris' batting. Ngidi can't bat, right?
Do Indian reporters actually know what real pace looks like?Uh, a Bengali newspaper reported that Ashwin bowled pace in the nets !
Do you think Indian reporters don't watch when India bats?Do Indian reporters actually know what real pace looks like?
One thing is for sure the pace and bounce won't be stopping with either. Is it not nice to have some faith in your selectors? For all the SA issues, we have been consistent and on the whole done what we liked to see and what was right.... minor disagreements aside.
......Unlike some of our cricket loving opposition fans
Unsure because I don't know how much they are reporting from the Indian team dressing room or there own observations... you know by keeping Nohit and dropping Pujara etc, or if they just accept Kohli and Shastri`s word as correct...Do you think Indian reporters don't watch when India bats?
What have Bangladesh gotta do with any of this?...I've seen a lot of "cornered tigers" meme since the end of the first test.
I agree 100% with Agarkar. But sadly it can't happen. That's not an acceptable selection strategy in the eye of anyone not named weldone or Agarkar."Agarkar wants Rahane instead of Pandya for second Test."
So drop the top scorer who also got 3 wickets...
Huh?
What"It's funny how things change in a matter of weeks, or just about five days," Kohli said on the eve of the second Test. "Before the first Test, no one thought that Rahane should be in the XI, and now suddenly people are looking at the other option.
