Pretty sure they've all been (dead) roads here since the 2010/11 Ashes, when there was a bit in it first morning and the game wound up being all over by the end of the first day.

Even for Shield cricket, it doesn't really break up that much at all. When they left extra grass on it, you might get a smaller first innings score but the second innings you couldn't take enough wickets to get a result.

This and Brisbane have been the worst by far. Perth at least had bounce so fast scoring was possible. Adelaide did a bit for the bowlers. They really need to leave more grass on the pitch here given how it flattens out and doesn’t break up. Give he bowlers something Day one.

Even old Adelaide was a grind, but you worked towards a day five result and things usually happened there late in the game. This has just got slower and flatter without breaking up. It’s a terrible wicket.

Yup.

Adelaide worked out that their wicket wasn't deteriorating the same when they put in the drop in, so even for Shield cricket have left a lot more grass on it. Does help that it suits the Redbacks, with Sayers and Worrall swinging the ball about.

Heck, even some of the Ch 9 comms who never criticise Oz pitches, have been mildly critical of it.

But yesterday Mark Taylor was saying he didn’t think the pitch was as bad as others were suggesting. Is it mandatory if a CA board member that you can’t ever criticise an Oz pitch ever?

It beggars belief that in this day an age they haven’t worked out the correct soil composition or preparation to sort that out with drop-ins. Especially if they’ve been at it for over a decade. Obviously I understand it’s not a perfect science etc, but it must have been invested in and experimented with.

As Vic said, problem with MCG is that it rarely deteriorates

Writing was on the wall with this one from Day One

They get some cover whenever there's a result. Even when there was a draw against India, it was put down to how good Kohli and Smith were batting, and a bit of Smith's captaincy, rather than the wicket.

I know that there are financial implications for tests not lasting 5 days for some, but this is just boring. Surely 4 days of exciting cricket is more of an incentive to get bums on seats than this.
Not like they've got many bums on seats now, or that those bums have stayed on their seats for the whole day...

Jimmy getting the ball to reverse a lot, but he's just bowling so slow it's easy to play, especially on this wicket

With this ball reversing atm, I’d be tempted to hold off taking the new rock for a while.
