They seem to have made the same mistake as the Adelaide curator for the first day/night test regarding grass.
Yes, apparently it is partly because they worry about the wear on the pink ball if the pitch is to dry...

As regards the team, I really feel they are looking at the 6 batsmen 5 bowler combination, but QDK`s injury is of major concern for that balance. If QDK is not fit then they may ask ABdV to keep temporarily and I really don't want that. If they bring in another keeper, then we only have spots for 4 bowlers. Balance of team is shot without QDK, I really hope its not major.
Assuming that they go for one of Klaasen or Second as De Kock's replacement, how much would the balance really be affected? Both of them are very capable batsmen who bat top six domestically, so while you obviously never know just how a player will go when he makes the step up to test cricket, it might not be such as issue to have either of them take De Kock's spot.

While I rate both those as not bad batsmen, they have not shown enough to be in the top 6 at international level for SA. Even when QDK was picked he needed a good scoring run both in LO and Tests before people talked about putting him in the top 6. Picking any other current WK in SA and batting him top 6 with Philander at 7 becomes a weak batting order.

Edit:Hopefully it is nothing serious and I`m just doom saying...

Cricinfo is saying De Kock should only have a hamstring strain, which requires 7-10 days recovery. If so, he could be fit in time for the first test, or at most just miss the first test and be fit for the rest of the series. Hopefully he recovers quickly.

Morkel around the wicket to lefties is different gravy.

Burl looked solid but positive last night. The best Zimbabwean batsman in testing conditions. Pity to leave such a big gate there.

I wonder what is the shortest completed tes with a result (ie no draw due to weather etc) in overs is

Andile can go away from these tests vs Bangladesh & Zimbabwe happy. But still think he can get better & a little quicker. But long-term you ideally want him as the seamer all-rounder replacing Vern.

Frustrating part is. He will play domestic 50-over cricket when the India tests are on but will miss out on the majority of the final rounds of 4-day domestic when the India limited overs series starts.

Utter utter toilet this test match has been Sikandar Raza. Was so impressed with him in their home season.
