***Official*** 4th Test at the MCG

SeamUp

International Coach
What's Malan's SA background?
His family are Afrikaans South Africans. His father played a couple of FC games for 'B' Teams in SA. Not quite sure the reason why Dawid was born in England. If it was when his father played club cricket there or a job for consulate post cricket.

Dawid schooled in SA and made his FC debut for Boland. In fact his school Paarl Boys is a rugby school mainly like all are in the Boland and he is only international cricketer from there still. He played a lot of cricket with Stiaan Van Zyl growing up.

His sister plays for the SA Women's hockey team.

Average watch for all those 'statistics aren't everything' people - 63.02. Insane.

Best to put them on hold for another 10 years or so, which is when I think he will decide to call it a day

Loving the resignation of the England fans in this thread. Very little to say, and who can blame hem really?

Courtesy of Cricinfo - "Anderson slams 'unexciting' MCG pitch - James Anderson says England did all they could to provide some entertainment for the Melbourne crowds, but were let down by the pitch".

Why do I get the feeling Hazelwood, Lyon and co would have found ways to get 6+ wickets in the day?

I'm not sure "landing it on the pitch and waiting for the dumb English to **** up again" is really finding a way, tbf

Dunno about that Curran made some excitement and when Broad actually tried he turned it up a bit. But then again Jimmy has always depended on the pitch.

Geez Jimmy Anderson really couldn't be more unlikable if he tried

The presser was more mild than the headline suggests. He admitted they didn't bowl well first up, but after that he thought they tried everything. He then mentioned that the pitch meant that attritional cricket had to be played, which can be less exciting for the crowd.

From everything I've seen he seems like a guy who lives in his own world, expects preferential treatment and everything is always someone else's fault.

Anderson is a fanny.

If you don’t take a wicket until 35 overs into the first innings, you’re always gonna struggle. Welcome to Melbourne.

I dunno about whethe it’s the deck so much. Adelaide’s been a drop-in for a couple of years and they seem to have gotten the balance right. MCG’s been a drop-in for what, 20 years? Would think the lack of useful wind would contribute to making it bleh for bowlers since Adelaide has a useful breeze but the MCG, due to to enclosed stadium sorta swirls instead.
