Couldn't agree more. 'Especially as an opener' is crucial. It is such a challenge you got to be on it. Think Smith, Hayden going quickly.

The smart one's are the one's who can adapt into the middle order just before the end of their career like Gary Kirsten.

It's always going to look worse for a batsman at the end of his career on a high pressure away tour. Wouldn't be surprised if he went to NZ and got runs tbh.

Think you right. If anything England will start their home summer with him and assess where they stand with openers as the County season goes on.
