I don't think anyone has been the least bit surprised by anything that has happened here.We were all warning about how flat this pitch can get on Day 1 for a reason

It doesn't look much different to when we played there our last 4 tests ?We were all warning about how flat this pitch can get on Day 1 for a reason
Can't fault their selections this test. MMarsh had to be selected ahead of Maxwell. On the WACA the pace bowlers need some relief and MMarsh is the only choice. Maxwell would not have been a good bowling option on this pitch. I know MMarsh only bowled 9 overs in the first innings but that's 9 overs the pace bowlers didn't have to bowl. They've done a great job this summer, after being pretty ordinary the last few years.- dropping Renshaw had to happen- Shaun Marsh proved a good call- Mitch Marsh proved a good brave call, Handscomb was also looking a bit out of form but was the incumbent- Tim Paine has been solid and probably outperformed what the other keepers would have doneAll that's left is for Bancroft to make a good ton and it's been a nearly perfect summer for the selectors
Almost exactly a year later, all the beneficiaries of the Hobart massacre are out of the team. They've done a great job this summer, after being pretty ordinary the last few years.

Not next Test, but I would be working towards:Honestly I'm expecting an unchanged XI for the next test. There's Ball, who's crap, Ballance, who's crap and Crane, who's crap. The might bring in Wood, not that he'd have done anything to justify it, but for who? It doesn't look like the Stokes thing is going to get sorted at any point before next August.
A poisoned chalice that one, wasn't it?Almost exactly a year later, all the beneficiaries of the Hobart massacre are out of the team.
I think you need to ignore everything he does pre-delivery stride. If you watch where he is at release, he’s walked across, head still and he’s in line. It’s basically Boonie on steroids. The old methods will work better than any funky stuff. Fourth stump line, be patient. And hope.Healy summed it up. Nobody knows how to bowl to his technique.
Well done Smith and that celebration had the determination of a triple coming up.
Quite odd seeing the Zimbo Hick loving the 200 for an Australian against his former team England. His smile was so wide it was reaching Africa from Perth.
All three of themAll the edges and top edges have dropped short today.
Bring Back Tim Bresnan! Not next Test, but I would be working towards:
3 Root 4 Bairstow 5 Malan 6 Stokes 7 Foakes
For the bowlers I would like Toby Roland Jones to be given more opportunities when fit.
Root seems a long way back, after the first edge dropped short I thought he might move up. The bowlers are only bowling 130km.All the edges and top edges have dropped short today.
Two of which had extremely flat Day 5 4th innings batting. Not a new thing. It doesn't look much different to when we played there our last 4 tests ?
Can’t even drag him wide with the full one, bloke gets a ridiculous amount of power by just wristing them through cover.I think you need to ignore everything he does pre-delivery stride. Just like you do with any great player.
I actually remember when he first came into the side, he seemed much more like an offside-dominant player, slashing everything through point and cover point, rather than the onside machine he is nowCan’t even drag him wide with the full one, bloke gets a ridiculous amount of power by just wristing them through cover.
Mooen at 8 I'm guessing? England desperately need a better spinner, at least overseas. Don't really like 3/4 but it looks like it might be the only choice atm. I think this also shows how big a loss Taylor was, he hadn't yet settled but he had so much more potential than those they've tried since. Not next Test, but I would be working towards:

I think he was joking. Australia declaring anything less than 250 in front would be insanityNot sure why he would tbh.
Australia are absolutely cruising, and scoring runs at a higher rate than Warner and Bancroft will on day 5.
So long as they don’t lose a wicket, they’re as well just cruising to 600.
I wouldn't think about declaring until the score has a 7 in front of it, personallyI think he was joking. Australia declaring anything less than 250 in front would be insanity
