I would prefer pay dispute over plane crash, youd consider him for his experience but thats it now, sadly.

btw when people throw out names a decent but not always correct guide is recent A teams. They didnt play but

Australia A four-day squad: Usman Khawaja (c), Glenn Maxwell (vc), Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Jackson Bird, Alex Carey, Hilton Cartwright, Travis Head, Kurtis Patterson, Chadd Sayers, Mitchell Swepson, Chris Tremain, Jack Wildermuth

Was the last A squad selected.

Something to consider:Handscomb has outscored Bancroft in all 3 innings that theyve both batted in.

I know Bancroft making a good fourth innings score in Brisbane is a positive for him but at 2 nil up do we drop the man who was ranked what our 4th best batsman a month ago?Its a no from me.

BTW Maxwell deserves the next chance but at the WACA Im thinking the selectors would consider (not definitely pick)MMarsh.
Yeah I'm thinking they'd sooner go with Mitch Marsh at Perth than Maxwell too. Only having three quicks at Perth probably isn't a situation they'd be thrilled with, especially since Cummins didn't end up having his planned rest in Adelaide.

I still think they'll end up rolling in unchanged, but they'll talk more about MMarsh than Maxwell at the selection meeting IMO. Maxwell's chance will come in Melbourne if they don't pick Marsh and Handscomb fails again.
Annnnnd this is happening.

I'm apoplectic right now.

The sad thing is that I knew this was going to happen right from the moment Lehmann brushed off Maxwell's double century and told everyone to look at how great M Marsh was doing.

I mean Marsh has made 1 hundred, 1 50 and is averaging 44 this shield season.

Maxwell has made 1 double hundred, 3 50s and is averaging 73 this shield season. One of his non-50s was a not out 40 odd which went a long way towards saving the match for Victoria and one of his 50s was a 96.

This is utter lunacy and blindness to the facts. Bancroft was brought in over the incumbent for MUCH less. And Maxwell WAS the incumbent until they brought in a guy who has a test and first class average in the 30s.

The selection this season is utter madness. How much are we paying these clowns to pick rubbish WA players?

The worst thing about this farce of a selection is that there is no more games for Maxwell to put his hand up in before Melbourne. He literally can't make any more runs this season until February, which means the selectors are favouring Marsh over him for the rest of the summer.

We all know that unless S Marsh picks up an injury he's inked in for the rest of the summer.

They need an alrounder who can bowl seam up for Perth. As harsh as it is for Maxi this is far from being a call to lose your ****.

They absolutely do not need a part time seamer for anywhere. If our main 3 quicks can't take the wickets a 4th, crappier seamer who has only just gotten back from injury and hasn't taken any shield wickets yet isn't going to add anything to the squad.

And the 5th bowler is unlikely to get more than 10 overs per innings. He's literally there to give the main guys a break. Even if Marsh could bowl 2 rpo more economically than Maxwell (and that's a giant if) we're talking a grand total of 40 runs over the course of the match.

Why shouldn't he be when he bats like this?
Because it's the same pattern as before. He will struggle to hit it off the square for the rest of the series but will get a free pass until he's injured. The guy has a FC average in the 30s FFS.

I don't like the MMarsh selection but this is a bad argument. A 5th seamer of the quality of MMarsh is immensely valuable and has been shown as such over the last ten years. It's his batting which is the problem, his bowling is excellent and shouldn't be forgotten about.

Also you surely aren't still saying Renshaw should have been picked? If anything that non-selection seems even more obvious now.

He can barely bowl right now
Bowled 13 overs in the last game.

Cbf to go in to a detailed comment for Stephen since im on phone other than saying he is just wrong. Marsh is a fantastic 5th bowler and no you don't only pick him to take 20 wickets since its not a problem for this attack against this hopeless England line up anyway but they need to share the workload.

Also bagging a guy who just made a match winning hundred for patterns in the stars lol

I mean, I wouldn't pick him, because IMO his bowling, whilst very good, is not so much better than Maxwell's to discount for the fact that Maxwell is probably the 3rd best batsman in the country right now, but it's Maxwell not being picked which is my main objection to the selection rather than the 5th bowling option being there, which I wanted all along. I don't like 4 man attacks.

Like calling him a part time seamer is absurd. He'd make quite a few Test attacks as a bowler!
