There is the team to select if you want to put the Aussies to the sword.
And if wishes were fishes we would all eat seafood

When you think about it it's weird that the one batsman we did find who was a success is a contender to become our best middle order bat for decades, yet we haven't been able to find a single other player who can even hold a position down in the team for more than two series. What I'd give for another Ian Bell or Paul Collingwood.
Yup, a lesser version of Lara when he was all that was left of WI batsmanship.

I just hope that captaining this crock of shite doesn't finish him as a top level player.

Don't worry, it won't be selected. The ECB hate Kent batsmen for some strange reason, Wood is either knackered or semi-knackered, Crane has clearly been selected to carry drinks while Stokes - well, you know about him?

Yes, the solution to the crap batting is obviously to drop one of the batsmen for a crap leggie and end up with 6 bowling options.

Yep, especially in Perth. Everyone knows you need two spinners and a total of six bowlers in Perth, especially as the touring side.

Crane is untested and we don't have a spin bowler whatsoever - I'm playing Ali as a batsman. He has been selected. Why select him if you are not going to use him? (And before you ask, I'd not be averse to Dom Bess either).

I haven't got two spinners. I do not consider Ali a spin bowler after the dross he bowled at the Gabba and Adelaide. He is only a part-timer

Just got the best parking space I’ve ever had in my office so there was at least some merit to getting up early

Just realised I left Malan out who does not deserve to be dropped. Makeshift experiment with Malan as a three then,

20,000 through the gates on the final day is impressive. Not charging has obviously helped but its a great number and really testifies that good test cricket will bring in the punters

In a series marked by high pressure, low scoring rate cricket, bowling a 20 legspinner on debut at Perth is asking to lose by an innings and several thousand runs

Christ, imagine what Warner and Smith would do to a young Leggie on a deck as true as the waca

I estimated we’d fall at least 80 short and didn’t even bother setting the alarm. It’s good though when you know how poor your team is yet still overestimate their ability. :devil2:

And I'm still struggling to name a worse England side in Australia. Even the 1950 team had Hutton and Bedser.
I'd say it's the weakest English batting lineup that's toured Australia since 1982/83, and even they had the excuse of losing players to the rebel tour.

Their problems were summed up in a funny way by Malan's innings; he showed admirable fight but if you didn't know he was going by how much he struggled you'd think he was a No. 8 bat.

Why is Jennings suddenly being mentioned again?

Hameed, Clarke and Lawrence possibly but it is obviously pretty much wishful thinking at this stage.
Don't get me wrong. I am with you. But from the Lions selections they went Jennings, Gubbins, Foakes, Lawrence, Livingstone, Duckett, Davies

Unfortunately we know Hameed won't happen and for whatever reason Clarke is with the Lions but seen as behind Davies now ? Mad.

But agree. Cricket is as much about charisma and seeing a talent that can be able to perform at a higher level. Think it will be time for the above generation but like you say it is more than likely in a home summer.
