Mistake picking Slater imho. Not just that he has a low average, that he was a genuinely terrible ODI bat. There were better value players averaging around the mid 20s.

He's got 25 runs to fit 6, 7, 8 and 11 into. Not saying he can't come up with some creative picks but it looks like he's gonna have an unbalanced side. Or at least a top heavy batting order

yeah, I think his flashy test batting makes him seem like someone who could have succeeded more in ODIs, but as someone once stated in this forum(forget who) he wasn't suited to picking gaps and running hard. In tests he could motor along because with 4 slips and a gully at the start of the innings there's gonna be a lot of ****ing holes in the field to smash the ball
