Who would've thought day/night test cricket would improve cricket not by making it accessible to crowds, but because the pink ball and the pitches combine to make the bat and ball contest so much more interesting?

Can Kookaburra make their red ball more like their pink one?

Good days play that. Good knock from Root even though he rode his luck massively like the scurvy dog he is. Haze and Starc disappointing, Lyon and Cummins exceptional.

You'd almost think that interesting cricket doesn't always involve 450 vs 550 at 4.1 rpo.

Well this innings has been intense. Very good cricket all round.

Would still say logically Australia are comfortable favourites but as long as Root's still out there it's not impossible. Hopefully we can make some inroads before the new ball's due.

England's day.

Aus still massive favourites for the win.

Handscomb needs to be publicly flogged for having the audacity to try and talk to a proper test cricketer while he is batting.

Would rather tell curators to wake-up.

Credit to Malan. Fought really hard there and gave them an outside shot.
Yeah while I don't really rate his long-term prospects at Test level, he does seem like a nuggety character. Showing Vince and even Stoneman how to do it. Could well perform a similar role to what Collingwood did a few years back.

Given it's now clear England doctored the ball yesterday to get the prodigious swing they produced, what should their punishment be? I'm angling towards UN sanctions on the importation of fake tan and a complete ban on stag groups leaving the country. I also understand there's an argument to be put that simply having to go home after the series is finished is punishment enough.

At least England are still in with a fighting chance.

Still expect Australia to do this comfortably despite what morgie thinks.
