***Official*** 2nd Test at Adelaide

England is a truly pathetic test Cricket nation. At this point, just scrap your entire test squad and focus 100% on ODI and T20.
I have zero doubt Australia would look about as bad if the matches were happening in England. Away games are hard, have always been.

Pointless criticism, England has had 21 home games in the last 3, Australia 16 but they will play 3 more by the end of the year. SL has played 17. SL last toured India in 2009, windies in 2013.
Saying that India have had a lot of home tests isn't a pointless criticism when the overseas tours they've had have been Sri Lanka (basically home tests), the Windies (who are getting slaughtered by New Zealand right now) and Bangladesh. The only series against a formidable foe away was against Australia 3 years ago and India got spanked.

It's entirely down to an accident of the scheduling but India are miles ahead on the rankings when they really haven't done anything outside winning at home and thrashing minnows. Which is what all the top sides have been doing.

It's probably inflated individual stats too (not saying this about Kohli though).

What Cummins was doing on test debut at the Wanderers at 18/19 , it is a cricketing travesty we had to wait basically 5/6 years to see him bowl on a wicket with bounce and pace again in test cricket.

Anyone listening to the triple m coverage? Mark Waugh and the British woman do not get along at all

Awkward listening
Waugh seems to have a massive ego these days

He basically dismisses anyone with a different view or not of a similar level of experience

Like Bradman said of the Windies great quicks when they were at their peak in the 80s. He reckoned he probably would have only averaged about 50 against them. But figured that wasn't too bad for an 80 year old.

Yeah. Remember that riveting summer down under when Voges and company put WI to the sword? While India and SA were struggling to cross 200 on square turners..

Yeah, would be very very different. Anderson and Broad would be all over us for a start.

Doesn't swing the ball like he did then though. Annoying, as I love swing bowling but there's not much of it in Aus atm.

Clarke not so subtly jabbing at Anderson and Co. there.

People treated that as the high farce that it was though.

This attack is so good with Cummins as third seamer. Neither Haze nor Starc are MJ-Harris levels, but Cummins >>>>> Siddle. There’s just no let up.
This is why having 3 of the big 4 seamers fit at the same time was so vital. The third seamer is usually the guy batters look to score off. When the third seamer and spinner are all genuine threats the pressure valve is never released.

In many ways this attack is more complete than McWarne ever was. There was always a weaker third seamer to go with those two.

+ Lyon is a significantly better bowler now.

You don't have to worry about MJ killing you or Rhino just being superman, but you never get a rest either.

They're all 'the partnership' Clarkey. They've all failed so far too.

Lee and Cummins are about as dissimilar a pair of bowling actions as you get these days.

Wanderers can swing all day at the best of times.

Best swing venue in Oz ? Got to hope he didn't lose his skill but other than his action change I can't see any reason why he would lose it as he seems a smart bloke. So I can see him adapting if necessary.

Hobart when it's miserable, I guess.

Let me talk one by one -

1. SL whitewashed Austrlia 3-0 and Pakistan 2-0, if they are such a bad team, I shudder to think what level Aus/Pak are at right now, downright pathetic.

2. WI has won tests in pretty much every series they have played in the past year or so , including *away* against England and Pakistan, something that Australia would struggle to do.

3. Bangladesh beat England 2-0 and drew 1-1 against Australia, if your theory of all SC games being homes for SC teams are true, then BD were playing at their home. So either India are really good, or Eng/Aus are downright crap.

Also, good on you for veering the conversation towards India when you were clearly talking about Kohli in your post.

I think that's selling Pistol a bit short, but tbf McGrath, Gillespie, Reiffel and Warne only played the 4 tests together.

This is true but it's also true that India (and Kohli) copped back to back tours of SA, NZ, Eng and Aus in 2013/14, where Kohli was pretty excellent (bar England). This endless home season is just compensation for a 2 year stretch where India played literally zero home tests.
