I doubt we'd have seen that exciting passage of fast bowling had England got the Australians all out earlier. They could basically bend their backs and bowl faster because stumps were just an hour away. England sort of brought that bouncer barrage upon themselves in a way.

I'm sure they would have been fired up on day 1 so some of it is pitch related too, definitely looked like there was more carry through.

Not the whole story though. His strength is cutting and pulling off the back foot which makes the likes of playing Johnson very simple. Cooks weakness has always been to line and length bowling like McGrath, Clark, Harris, Philander etc.

Agree. Pace isn't his issue, excellent seam bowling in the corridor is. Had a bad time against Asif too iirc.
