Disagree. Only thing Fellaini does better than Matic is head the ball. He's so clumsy defensively and constantly gives the ball away. Almost gifted Chelsea 2 goals after he came on yesterday.

I think Matic's distribution might be better than his defensive work. I didn't realise it until I started watching him regularly but he's a very slick passer.
Fellaini's distribution in that position was so bad that I feel weird calling it "distribution". He was all over the place positionally too. To be effective without the ball he needs the freedom to run around getting in everyone's way as much as possible. Generally speaking he gets worse the further he gets from the opposition goal.

I'd rather we only played one of them or got someone who could break up play and has a well rounded passing game. Those players seem rare though. Mourinho has played both of them deep already this season and that's just annoying.
Although playing Pogba there so Mkhitaryan can play an attacking role is also annoying. Pogba is better than him and I'd rather have Pogba pushing forward.

You’re literally describing Matic here.
I prefer Pogba deeper. He’s not a natural at receiving the ball between the lines, whereas this season he’s been incredible at linking defence and attack. If Mkhitaryan needs dropped we’re better trying Mata, Rashford, or Martial at 10. I think Rashford could work. Could also recall Pereira too though he doesn’t seem to want to come back. Or try to get Ozil in January.

Matic has a passing range of 5 yards. I'd prefer someone with Carricks range. Mkhitaryan at 10 just struggles against good or compact defenses. Like the exact reason we bought him.

I'd take a punt with Ozil this Christmas and hope he is good enough to be in a side to challenge for the premier league next year. Summer main priority has to be two gun full backs, Valencia is ageing and trash going forward and the other options whatever side are all similar.They have there upsides but none would attract interest from any elite European teams. I'd assume United will have to pay massive money for them so Ozil making it would be massive for them long term.
