It's just the type of game that shows up Lukaku's limitations. He probably needs to be left out of the next big game really, he's not going to learn hold-up play, pressing, or turning faster than an aircraft carrier quickly enough to do the job required. Our best big-game performance under Mourinho by miles was the 2-0 vs. Chelsea last season with Rashford and Lingard as a front two.

Mkhitaryan, meh. He's the best 10 we have but I'm thinking he's just not quite good enough, and too old to persevere with in the hope that he improves. Need to start training Martial in that position or sign someone new.

Gave it a decent go I guess but really could have lost by more. Have to think we're just not as good as Chelsea, and without Pogba it's not especially close. Really looks like we got the worse of the Morata/Lukaku deal too.
Someone pointed out on twitter that United's 4-0 wins which so impressed people were against sides in the relegation zone and Everton, so there might be something to the "not that good" thesis

Chelsea deserved that to be fair. United simply not enough guile in the side. Mkhitaryan is a failure, signed nearly 15 months ago and despite some nice performances here and there, nowhere near consistent enough and horrific against elite teams. He shouldn't have played these recent games against big sides and Jose deserves to be hammered for his bizarre infatuation with this hack.

Herrera is another passenger, defensively okish today but utter poison going forward and really should not be playing in the same team as Matic no matter the scenario. Less said about the full backs the better.

Another 100 million needed minimum to transform this side into genuine title contenders. Dire.

Mourinho used to be a good coach, but now his tactics are mostly what you'd get if you gave Pulis or someone a massive budget. Most of their goals come not through intelligent teamwork, but percentage plays - long balls, crosses, set-pieces, quick breaks from opposition turnovers etc. That's why most of the players he buys are massive physical specimens. He can definitely produce a well-drilled, organized defensive team TBF.

I could be talking nonsense mind you, I only watch them when they're playing their main rivals. But they were incredibly uninspiring against Liverpool, Tottenham and again today.

Yeah the tactics in the big games have been pretty uninspiring. He has won a few competitions so he deserves credit for that, although his record against the elite sides in the premier league is very shaky. Its ironic for a side also which is so reliant on aerial supremacy aren't exactly blessed with great crosser's on either flank.

United are second and in the champions league last 16 so not exactly an Everton esque season, but some of the criticism he has been copping is merited and rumour is he wants a big payrise to stay after next season, the board should hold on at that for now!

Lol Everton.

Is there a reason the Sunday games that are Sunday because of the Europa League don't kick off at 3?
The games that aren’t being broadcast in the UK are offered out to foreign broadcasters. When Everton played Brighton in similar circumstances earlier in the season the only taker was India so they kicked off at 1:30pm our time which was prime time viewing their time.

Mourinho United is just a better version of LVGs. It's defensive at its heart and relies on not conceding. When you decide to use 3 cbs and wing backs there's usually an implication that the wing backs will attack but that doesn't happen under Mourinho. It becomes 5 at the back with 2 defensive mids shielding them. So then your relying on Mkhitaryan to provide for Lukaku or that Rashford can do something special.

Pogba being out is huge because he can play deep or forward and transition between them. He's better than Mkhitaryan even if he's playing deeper.

Expecting Ibra to start when he's back. Will be interesting.

They were games that they'd have drawn 1-1 last season.

City now with 38 goals in 11 games. The Invincibles got 73 all season, for context.

Terrible offside call but what the hell was Koscielny doing? Just stood there with his arm up and let Jesus walk up for a tap-in, play the whistle.
Ftr I don't think the 3rd is offside. Exactly the sort of situation where officials should keep the flag down, benefit of the doubt is supposed to go to the attacker and 75% of Silva's body is onside.

Also great management from Wenger, don't play your £50m striker and instead play a huffy bastard who won't be at the club in 6 months.

My unpopular opinion is that Chelsea did good business selling Matic and buying Bakayoko who's six years younger for a profit. In three/four years people will probably forget that there was even a backlash to it.

Hardly unpopular, I said this weeks ago. Matic is a ****ing donkey.

Presumably you were fuming when Lacazette scored v Stoke but the BT pundits were full of praise for the linesman for noticing his finger nail was behind the line.
