Not improving from what baseline?

I mean, at least he didn't decide Dejan Lovren was worth 20 million or whatever it was.
Well seeing as he has been there a couple of years how the hell is their defence so bad still when it was clear they were pathetic at the back. Better going forward I will give them that but still terrible at the back.

Depends which season you look at. But I guess if Klopp had Suarez at his disposal...
I reckon it’s a much better squad than in Brent’s last year or so though. Not sure how much to credit Klopp for that, doesn’t seem to get too involved in recruitment but I guess he attracts players.

Still think he’s as good a manager as they could really get, but increasingly thinking Poch is a level above everyone bar Guardiola.

Haha this MOTD Everton team selection is a joke.

No wonder Keown and Wright didn't go into management.
I think with that squad there's no possible lineup that doesn't leave you thinking "holy god they're shite", but Koeman is picking particularly bad combinations. Tbf even the most talentless of players shouldn't be as badly organized as they were yesterday.

Rooney as a 9 and Calvert-Lewis on the right because the latter is 'too young to play through the middle' is pretty dire tbf.

Rooney on the pitch in any capacity is fairly dire tbh. Aside from the odd bolt out of the blue goal from 30 yards.

Don't like the smug faced **** but think the Koeman sacking is harsh. Finished 7th in his first season (best position you can reasonably expect), then lost by far his best player in the summer and has had five of his opening nine fixtures against last season's top six. And apparently this is the shortest tenure (in games) for an Everton manager in a century. Guess it depends how involved he was in transfers. If it was a significant role then fair enough, if not, looks pretty harsh to me.

Personally think there's a total misunderstanding in football circles when these clubs sell their best player and use all that money to buy other players. People just look at the money spent and not the money received, and see the quantity of players coming in and assume it means they should be better. But history suggests they'll probably be worse.

They were completely dire on Sunday though. Any side that properly contests the midfield at home to us has a good chance of getting a positive result, but they basically left it all to Gueye to face our three attacking midfielders, who were able to just run at the backline in wave after wave of attack. Strange because Koeman had won all his three previous home games against us so maybe things really were that desperate.

He'd lost the fans. Normally you at least see some division, but to a man every Evertonian I know wanted him gone. You can't really come back from that.

BIB is the imponderable of all talk of managers nowadays though isn't it? we just don't know, most of them go to their management with a wishlist, we don't know whether that is ignored, or acted on, or the people are deemed too expensive. Others just coach and have littleinput.

The fact Klopp hasn't strengthened his defence is madness, has he tried do we know? Yet Everton spunked a lot of money on mediocrity, again if it was Koemans decisions he is right to have been sacked.

Conte is clearly massively angry with who Chelsea have brought in, after a great season last year, but that seems to be Chelseas thing lately, penny pinch after getting success, piss off their manager, sack them.

I think Conte's annoyance is how thin the squad is.

Bakayoko for Matic and Morata for Costa are huge upgrades IMO.

Yeah, but wasn't he in for Llorente, and a couple of defenders to bolster the squad, but they wouldn't pay for them. Mind you Lorente probably not a big miss as it happens, but I think he wanted more bodies in, after losing a few midfielders for ridiculously big prices. They then panic-buyed Drinkwater which can't be a good thing.

Think Bakayoko is probably an upgrade but saying Morata is massively undervalues Costa IMO. He carried Chelsea on his back for half of each of their title winning seasons.
