Stokes Arrested

Don't believe everything you read that's been written by people who don't know what they are talking about imo. The police in the UK do crack down on this sort of thing. Magistrates' courts up and down the country are full of idiotic defendants who have been involved in incidents like this on a daily basis.

Beevs' impassioned defence of Stokes is just a tribalist embarrassment. Contrast his views on this with his views on a similar incident involving Steven Gerrard for lols. You'll also note that none of his posts in this thread have engaged with any of the substantive points being made. They've either been poorly thought out assertions (the likes of which even Furball would be ashamed of) or explaining how tough he is. Not exactly stellar form.

As for S.Kennedy. Well, he doesn't make posts that aren't wrong and/or ****. From that I am sure you are more than capable of drawing your own conclusions.
It is a typical scene as seen in the Big Market. You do not believe what I say is true? Okay. Fair enough.

Newcastle's a great night, as is whitny bay and yarm. Middlesboro and sunderland not so much
Whitley Bay holds a funny anecdote. My mother used to work nightshift there in a nursing home and outside the window at some ungodly hour she witnessed a woman squatting having a pee while her boyfriend held her kebab. Who said chivalry is dead?

First time I've heard it called a kebab.

I plan to make a Stokes Charged thread followed by Stokes Jailed, so we can all go into those threads
Although if things were to turn out differently, the 'Stokes not charged' thread would stand to eclipse both of those

It is dragging on, the police investigation, isn't it? The ECB have been left with their dicks in their hands.

How exactly?
Well they suspended Stokes from the Ashes squad pending police investigation, yet this police investigation is taking longer than the investigation into Madeleine McCann - I'm sure the ECB didn't think it would drag on this long. What are the ECB supposed to do if these lazy coppers allow the investigation to run into the Ashes. I'm sure you will find multiple ways to disagree with me as always though.

The bloke is more than likely guilty of what is a pretty major offence, there was no way they could've approached it any differently.

Yes it would have been far better for Stokes to fly out and play a couple of warm up games with this hanging over him then have him fly back when he gets charged. That wouldn't be disruptive in the slightest.

This is a regular scene in any British high street on a Friday or Saturday night. The police usually, having locked the person up in the ''drunk tank'', dish out a caution and a fine the next morning. They have footage and presumably statements from all the participants. To say this is not the laziest investigation ever is hardly excessive.

When did I even imply that (should happen)?

Last I heard the police were appealing for a witness to come forward.

Look I don't know if it's a lazy investigation but I do agree it's frustrating at the length of time this is taking. Presumably if they don't end up pressing charges then the ECB will then consider their own disciplinary action which may or may not include naming him in the Ashes squad.

It's in everyones interest to get this wrapped up as a quickly as possible.

Has anyone learned anything from this thread other than Durham being a shithole?
Sunderland is a shithole but a lot of the county is rather beautiful actually, consisting of rolling farmland. The City of Durham is a cathedral/university city and stunning,

I'm thinking more like Newcastle (just across the Tyne from Durham and party central in the United Kingdom), Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and - yes - Sunderland (although you would probably be more inclined to just get the train into Newcastle),

The Stokes thing was a typical modern late-night British street scene that is usually wrapped up when the participants are released from the drunk tank in the morning. Repeat offenders might get a record which are usually dished out quickly. We couldn't even dish out custodial sentences if we wanted to as our prisons are full. Look, I do not know if this happens in Australia, India or wherever the hell you live but I do live here - give me some credit!! Have a look at the pictures contained here and that gives you a good idea of what I mean,

Makes me laugh to see Northern English towns regularly described as "shitholes".. you guys need a tour of some Indian cities. Especially in UP, Bihar etc. Heck, even Bangalore is pretty ******.

Yeah, they are beautiful towns but hot damn they are boring as ****.

A real shithole is never boring just by vice of being scarily interesting.

British cities on Friday and Saturday night are cesspits of stale alcohol, vomit, blood, urine and criminality - in not necessarily that order of priority.
