***Official*** Bangladesh Tour of South Africa 2017

They're in probably the hardest country for a subcontinental team to visit.
True, but considering that South Africa had their first-choice pace attack out by the 2nd Test (and that’s not including Chris Morris) Bangladesh’s batting in the Tests should’ve been more stoic than what they provided.

It's definitely been disappointing, but I don't think they've actually gotten worse at all. They've just shown no signs of development whatsoever in their aptitude to play in these conditions, and people were expecting some, even if minor, improvement given their more overall improvement as a side.

They did put up 280 TBF. Their bowling absolutely sucks ATM, especially in these type of conditions. Was pretty poor in the CT as well.

Are South African fans still enjoying this tour from world cricket’s latest power house?

It is a minimum 350 ground..... against that SA attack is pretty poor.

I did actually enjoy the Test series just because the team is doing everything right and getting settled for the Indian, Aus series. I`m never much interested to see the LO stuff... but it is nice to see Amla, QDK and Rabada pad there stats when given the opportunity....

I am not dancing in the streets over these results, but one cant complain about the Proteas performance in these matches up until now.

I am all for increasing thecount in the 'Win' column no matter the opponent

The next big hurdle for Bangladesh cricket is developing a better team culture and mindset, and finding ways to identify and develop bowlers who can bring them success away from home.

These were two issues that Indian cricket has been working to address since the mid 90s and still, arguably, haven't fully solved yet. They've appointed foreign coaches, sports psychologists, have backed characters like Ganguly, Harbhajan, Yuvraj, Zak, Kohli, Jadeja, etc etc to give the side that #intent and ruthless desire to win at all costs. They've started to do a much better job of identifying and developing pace bowling prospects and seem to have stumbled on some exciting young wrist spinners. But they still have a knack of letting the momentum slip away from them all too easily, and still aren't that great overseas.

I think it's going to be some time till we see BD successfully overcome these issues.

if this is going to be the focus then Mushfiqur absolutely can't be captain. Even if we pretended he wasn't an awful tactical captain (he is), some of the stuff he's come out with in interviews runs completely counter to this.

^^ They need to find the talent and nuture the players.

I think BD had a good thing with them when their youths were on par with youth players from other more established countries.

After youth cricket, there is a divide. A very big gap that separates them from the other countries. The domestic structure; perhaps?

Yes Mushy's really just around because he's still a pretty gun batsman and is of the generation that first made BD somewhat competitive.

Even if he isn't captain I feel he's just a bit of a toxic influence in the dressing room with his mentality. Even if they put tape across his mouth and told him to just bat and field (not wicketkeep) and do nothing else, you can just tell he's the guy to throw away his wicket at a crucial phase or drop an important catch. I mean, literally just look at that final over in that T20 against India...

Isn't he married? Probably the dude is frustrated.

Definitely the domestic structure. It's something they've been working on, but when you go look at it, even the most experienced 'veterans' of the domestic scene at the moment are just in their late 20s/early 30s, and have either never played cricket outside of BD or just a handful of games for the National/U-19/A teams when they were much younger. A lot of guys who are the top performers are either players who don't have the skillset for International cricket (think darty left arm spinners with dodgy actions taking advantage of the pitches, or batsmen who are either talented but inconsistent or limited but grinders). So many international rejects are just entering their 'prime' now and are supposed to be the generation that is guiding the new breed of youngsters.

It's essentially just a lack of experience and knowledge in the domestic cricket framework. It's going to take some time till BD have enough really good, savvy veterans involved in domestic cricket. They also need more cricketers in their domestic game who have experience of foreign conditions and higher level cricket who can share that knowledge with the upcoming talent.

India only recently have attempted to have a greater variety of conditions for their domestic players to play in, and to arrange more A Team tours for their second/third string talent. It's going to take a while for BD to figure things out and put changes in place to lead to a stronger side.

In order for a bonus to their domestic structure, I have always believed in guys who are current members of the test squad or were part of a squad that would just return from a tour abroad, to have them play with the players in the green domestics. This would be invaluable to everyone. 'A' team tours should be a must, and this could be organized against teams like Zimbabwe, Ireland, West Indies, SL, Afghanistan.

All these teams are probably looking to rebuild their side or trying to have a good resourceful amount of bench players. This will be beneficial to both teams. I

I noticed that a BD team was playing Ireland Wolves recently. That is a good step ahead. But I didn't like the way the set their batting order.

Bangladesh batting orders are always bizarre. It's like a strange cultural aspect of their cricket - like left arm spinners, over-aggressive middle order batsmen, left handed openers and legspinning allrounders.

They feel like they're run by a kid who has just discovered what cricket is and fell in love with all the weird aspects of it. Part of their charm really.

Last teenager to play for SA ? Not necessarily happy with that. He was 18* over night and finishing that game off playing would have been better. Suppose they must be definitely planning to give him a debut in East London then.

T20s
So they've kicked out R.Hendricks, Smuts - 'newbies' - Frylinck, B.Hendricks

Not unhappy... giving the youngsters a shot (or at least senior camp experience) but also rewarding some form.
