Yeah. Think with no mainstream level cricket for 6 weeks the odd game for Northerns out of the limelight is best.

I've only seen him in LO games but he looks the goods, if he takes some franchise wickets I'd love him in the test team over Phelukwayo as of now.

Would have to be both.

Be a farce for domestic players to have no cricket for 6 weeks in our summer. Some players will be pushing for Proteas spots.

4th round of Sunfoil Series starts tomorrow. My company sorted out Newlands for cricket pitch covers as we've finally got some rain as this summer could be scary in terms of the drought. Only disappointment is Cobras play their first game at Newlands vs Warriors and it also looks like Breetzke will debut for them.

Not sure if anyone saw the pictures of Kingsmead & PMB Oval after their storm ? Both grounds were basically reseviors. Haven't seen that before.

Weather has been even stranger than normal in PE this last week. Not Durban flooding, but some of the sudden torrential downpours have been weird... but we has our always consistent wind to keep us company!

Definitely weird weather patterns for years now. The Cape Doctor has got stronger and more prominent in our summer so you not alone in being the windy city anymore

He would be playing in the 50-over for EP today and isn't , with Cloete playing he clearly hasn't travelled. So will need another opener.

Lungi Ngidi travelled to PMB with the Titans.

His fellow Maritburger and SA u19 batsman Jiveshan Pillay scored 72 (3 day) & 109 (1 day) in his first games for Northerns. Really encouraging - Both him and Breetzke will open for SA u19s at WC but look capable of batting 3-6 for the longer version if need be (considering Markram/Elgar look set for forseeable future).

Andrew Puttick left out of the Cobras squad. Another stalwart being pushed out slowly.

I see they have chosen the extra pace of Bosch over Pretorius (who has done quite well -certainly put the numbers up).

But read an article where Stephen Cook and Geoffrey Toyana were saying they need to find the pace bowlers again.

Markram & Elgar opening for Titans.

I see they have chosen the exrta pace of Bosch over Pretoriys (who has done quite well -certainly put the numbers up).

But read an article where Stephen Cook and Geoffrey Toyana were saying they need to find the pace bowlers again.

I can't see that opening combination changing much for the next 5-10 years when available for the Titans!

Bosch is the future. Unfortunately with the quota system many stalwarts are going to get pushed out earlier than wanted. Big issues (more than the lack of genuine pace bowlers) is the non-existance of quality black batsmen. If we could find a black Amla/ABdV/Faf the entire test team selection becomes so much easier. Bavuma and Zonda are not bad but have not been quite good enough either.

Is there any real young black batting prospects available? It is difficult to see why that is such a problem for SA cricket.

Unfortunately Khomari, mgijima, Ngoepe, Nqolo, Makhanya, Mokoena, Mosehle are nowhere near Bavuma and Zondo.

Look international cricket is tough. We've seen talents such Dippenaar, Rudolph, Duminy not able to step up. McKenzie corrected it second time round. Just think about the numbers guys like Ackerman, A.Jacobs, Z.deBruyn, Benkenstein, M.vanJaarsveld put up for years. Even guys like Puttick, Kuhn, Cook more recently. It isn't easy and can't be forced in my opinion. All you can do is hard work in the junior structures and hope for the best. It is up to the individual from there.

Wonder if competition to be the best is tougher ? Its not like opportunities aren't there. Most youth teams at provincial weeks are dominated by Poc and the numbers of young blacks are ever increasing and just as much or even more than coloureds/asian in certain provinces.
