Stokes Arrested

Anyone have full access to this article which was published last week? Sounds hilarious

Ben Stokes: There is adrenaline but I'd never punch anyone
I read this on Saturday and was thinking how Stokes is going to light up the Ashes this summer. Most exciting cricketer in the world, such a shame for all.

It is a war-like tribe, presumably, for the Stokes fuse is famously short. When opposition teams sledge him – that is, try to make him lose concentration at the crease by winding him up – the only worry his England team-mates have is for the wellbeing of the sledger. When the Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin once tried this, the England spinner Graeme Swann took him to one side and suggested it might not be a sensible way to proceed, on balance. When Haddin asked why, Swann explained, “Because he’ll f***ing kill you, mate.”

* * *

I ask him whether he sees a shrink about his anger issues. “We have a team psychologist available on match days,” he says carefully, “but I haven’t spoken to him about it lately. We have normal conversations. He doesn’t force it on you.” He stares at his feet. “But yeah, I have to make sure I keep a lid on it.”

Well, this thread has turned into a real pack of ****, but this post from the first page surely takes the biscuit:

I mean, seriously, when is assault ever "harmless"? It's assault, for crying out loud. It is never "harmless".

There's some guy out there who suffered actual bodily harm, who may or may not have been culpable in an attack and may or may not have been backing off at the time. We don't know.

But, for crissakes, it absolutely wasn't "harmless", and the attitude expressed in that post is beyond repugnant.
tjb was obviously not being serious there

In other news happy national beer day everyone in the uk!

For the record, my view is that Stokes is a **** and should be banned - until the ashes obviously ?

Just seen the footage for the first time - that's an affray irrespective of what caused it, so Stokes has just lost us the Ashes - wafc

Not really. The key issue is whether Stokes believed this guy was a threat. From a legal perspective that is the issue that everything hinges on here.
I'd have no problem with acquitting Stokes if I was on a jury. The guy's mate attacked someone with a bottle and the bloke he punches is making no effort to leave the scene. If I were in Stokes' position I most certainly wouldn't be turning my back on him.

That's not to say that I'm condoning Stokes punching the guy's lights out.

Not a bad effort at a post. But you must do better in future.

S. Kennedy, what a ****ing dunce.

If he thinks that what happened is standard across the UK then Newcastle must be a bigger shitehole than I realised.

I've seen that sort of fight in a middle class market town in Northumberland on more than one occasion.

Bunch of old blokes twatting some of my mates was interesting. Til the polis showed up and carted them away, mates spent a night in a cell nowt more.

Hales is getting an easy ride considering he's the cowardly **** booting a guy in the head on the floor.

I suppose grainy footage we can't be sure it's him, but looks like it is.

Elton John very much agrees with you.

Mind you LT maybe a tad disingenuous with his post, unless he's never heard of Union Street in his fair city. Mind you it's the women you have to watch there.
LT disingenuous?

How can you make such a scurrilous suggestion
