Howe should be offended by the idea that you thought he was potentially arguing that Bangladesh are unique in needing players to play well to win. :p

Well I don't know for sure which argument Howe was making (that BD are somehow unique on relying on a handful of players, or that they are unique in that rest of their side is useless) so I tried to argue both.

CricAddict seems clear that he feels the rest of the BD side is incapable, and so I'm more clear with him that that's wrong and what they really lack is just the ability to actually turn their talent to performances.
Yes, I believe the rest of the side are incapable of winnings tests right now, though with age on their side, they have time and ability to learn and mould themselves into a good team who can collectively win consistently 2-3 years later. Just for eg., if we have Tamim and Shakib right now instead of Rahim and Sabbir, we can think of a fightback from where BD still can have a chance to win. Right now, it is just a matter of time on when they will get rolled out. I still believe that the rest of the BD team except these 2 guys lack in ability to put up match winning performances.

Having said that, even Tamim and Shakib are not in the class of big 4 or probably the top 10 and so, they will fail more often than the top 10 batsmen in the world. Coupled with TJB's points, that is why I said a lot of things have to come together for them to win, mainly these 2 putting up match winning performances. I see PEWS doesn't agree with that but it is just my opinion.

If you think the side is incapable due to lack of experience/mental strength, then sure that's a valid point. I fully expect them to get bullied and rolled over within the next session too and this game ends today.

But talent wise they're certainly good enough. If you think that's lacking, then you just haven't been watching them.

And his luck runs out. Lyon wafg. Seriously. The bloke is having a blinder this series against, as ***** has often told us, a truly world class line up.

Given these guys would've batted three and four if the selectors/captain weren't completely morons, in an alternative universe Bangladesh might still only be two down.

Wade securing his position as keeper this match. He's actually been pretty ****ing good. Miles better than he was before the tour of India. Fact his batting has gone down hill as his keeping has improved shows you how blessed sides are with genuine keeping all rounders who can sustain both disciplines to a high standard for a long time.

The ability to score runs or take wickets on a regular basis is what separates good batsmen from bad ones though.

It's not about more or less talent, ifs just about being better at winning cricket matches - or at the very least doing the things you need to do in order to be able to do so.

English strategy of making the opposition think the game is theirs and then crushing their spirit.

While this is obviously bad, they lost this in the first innings. Getting only 300 batting first was the real issue... Atleast 100 below par.
Yea i know that, but for the series to end with a Banglollapse followed by a farce of a runchase...that absolutely sucks

A gritty third innings culminating in a tense, if low-scoring, 4th innings chase would have been a lot better. The series has been so good till now.

Yeah but I didn't hear this lament from you about what a shame it was when Australia lollapsed in the last test against India in what had been a really good series up until that point......
