No-one thinks Bangladesh are a quality team though. People are just happy/excited that they seem to have progressed from completely irrelevant to a competitive team that can win games at home. It's a big development for cricket to have gone back to nine genuine Test teams after quite a few years being at eight. They're still only the ninth best of the nine, but that's fine.
Yeah exactly. BD didnt even have the confidence to make any sort of result oriented pitch back then. Flat pitches were dished out so the matches could be taken to 5th day or so. Even then we would collapse to innings defeat.

See this post is just really unfortunate because you know what's going to come after it. You didn't need to make it at all to show that WW was posting crap, but now he's going to ignore the less debatable criticisms of his post and argue this more controversial one where he can actually manufacture a point.

Thanks a lot.
Why do you think I'm posting "crap"? I think the points I made about Eng/Aus's failures in SC conditions, coupled with their lack of a quality spin attack were totally valid. And can anyone argue that Pak/India wouldn't put up a much bigger fight in BD?

And I sit here wondering why no one wants to theory craft WW2 outcomes if some boats were in port instead of the same old debates again and again.

You're just arguing against a point no-one is making.

And to my Australian friends. Surely If Aus lose this series Lehman must be under pressure? Would they ever consider getting rid of him before the ashes? And who would replace him? (and please don't suggest Law because we shall be taking his passport and he won't be returning to the country of his birth anytime soon...hopefully).

Great result though it was I get the impression that this is about as good a test as Bangladesh could have had

- win the toss
- Tamim puts up a good score in both innings
- Shakib and Musfiqur make runs in each innings
- Australia collapse twice
- Smith doesn't do much

The fact that it's so close anyway means I expect Australia to come back hard in the second test. Still backing 1-1.
counterpoint: Tamim/Shakib/Musfiqur make a ton

If Imrul, Soumya, Shabbir and Nasir raise their hands and score runs, Mominul returns and scores runs, and Fizzy finds his mojo, BD could still beat a fit and firing Australia
