Will the West Indies ever rise again?

You guys are still living in the past. It's totally pointless to expect anything from WI in test level, it's an archaic format to them. Besides they're the best in T20 cricket and they quite enjoy the format.

Agreed, won two global T20 titles within the last 5 years. It's the ECB and CA quaintly carrying on with test cricket against half strength teams as if nothing has changed who are behind the curve. Think test cric needs some dedicated windows, there should be less of it, and big 3 need to pay up if they want touring teams to be at full strength.

Delighted to see Marlon and the Universe Boss called up for the one day leg. Might at least see some entertainment.

13 years on and they're awful.
In the 2000s we had a passable batting lineup (Gayle, Sarwan, Shiv, Lara) and no bowlers worthy of the name.

Now we have world class seamers and plenty more to come, hopefully a decent spinner in Cornwall.

But the batting is a joke. Until this changes we will always be 8 or 9 in the rankings.

Did beat England though. Understimate Sri Lanka and WI at your own peril.

Unless you're Ashwin though then it's easy pickings

Very harsh considering they won a Test series against your own team recently. Their current bowling attack is much better than it was 13 years ago and probably one of the best of its generation. I don't think any side in the world could have handled Bumrah yesterday.

Wi's problem is clearly their batting. Even against England the lower order bailed us out more often than I would've liked. Teams like india, Australia and rsa will continue to destroy us at home (possibly nz as well.). Obviously, we have no chance away. But as pointed out, we did hammer a decent England team recently who swept SL away, same SL team swept rsa away. So England aren't that poor.

Until this series they'd had a pretty good run at home; beat England, easily beat Bangladesh, drew with SL & came within an over of drawing with Pakistan.

They're terrible away from home but have been like that for over 20 years. Least worst was probably under Gayle for a while where they scrapped pretty hard in a few series.

There is some talent though. Shai Hopeand Pooran have skills to work with and can have a future. Hetmyer needs to apply himself, period. It's almost embarrassing at times. Chase can be solid, but I have little hope for the rest.

Must say don't like the idea of Cornwall in the team, but I imagine it's just me probably.

don't think they are so poor .Windies have Holder,Roach,Gabriel,Chase, Brathwhite(opener) ,Darren Bravo who form a core group. A few more players especially a good spinner & a few quality batsmen . they can form a good all round unit.

India did to wi what they did to SL . SL swept rsa away. Wi are a poor batting side and that's essentially what let them down immensely this series. India are just better in each department than the wi atm. No need to panic. Our batsmen need to pull a Steve Smith and work on themselves with extensive net sessions.

The problem with WI batting might be the persistent one over the state of pitches that seem to favour fast bowling. Some of the WI batsmen do better on tour than at home. Braithwaite by about 4 runs, Hetmyer 7. Hope and Bravo more so. Though Blackwood and Holder to better at home. There is a pretty distinct comparison for the seamers as well. They do much better at home. Could be the pitches are exaggerating the effectiveness of the bowling while suppressing the development of the batting.
