3rd time i think that halep lost a match that would have made her no: 1 had she won...this one was an absolute rout...muguruza finally becoming more consistent outside of the slams?

Mugu the best player in the world right how, handled Pliskova and Hallep easily.

Also Dolgo fixing again, opened at 1/5 today and went off at 6/4, genuinely one of the biggest scumbags on tour.

Amusing stuff in the end by Dolo, played wellish for the first few points of each game, and then elected for double faults and hilarious errors afterwards. There is plenty of chat on twitter, it did look very dodgy. Hopefully at least its investigated, has form for this and today looked very bad.

Bondarenko supposedly was at it also, but to be fair did not see that and not garnering half the debate that Dolgo is online.

Halep v Sharapova in the First Round of the US Open. On paper it sounds great but whether it'll be a close match I have my doubts.
The men's draw is missing a few big names and there must be doubts over whether Murray and Federer are fit enough to win the tournament.

Men's event more open than in the last 10-15 years or so...I think we will see a first time winner
Let's hope so, really hoping for a young winner, have a sneaking feeling for Cilic though.

In the women's I like svitolina's draw, and form just worried about that choke against Halep in the French, so may not invest.

Maria's looking smoking hot in her promo events, well there's that productivity for her I suppose.

Well he's been charged, let's hope something is done about it.

The problem is, this could easily link into Tomic/Fognini/Krygios/Paire deliberate tanking, he could just say he was doing the same. This is why everyone should be punished for it to some extent.
Think previously they have said crazy movement of odds does not factor into their decision making! LOL.

Murray has a really nice quarter, but obviously huge concerns over his fitness. I'd be backing Cilic also, has won this before and has a pretty good draw, Zverev has a few banana skins in his respective side. Assuming Murray is not fit and is winging it, what an opportunity it is for the Zverev/Cilic quarter.

Hey it was closer then it could have been but the 5-time Slam Champ prevailed as she should.

Do actually think Maria probably needed to finish it off in 2 to be an UsOpen Champion again, 2 hours 42 after not playing that many matches, can see a flop coming up.

Still it was quite some atmos for a first round match.

Good win for Maria. Whether it's good for the women's game that someone can not play for months and then instantly beat the number 2 seed I'm not sure. Not based on the drug ban just based on the fact that she's been out injured. Though I think I'm right in saying that Monica Seles came back from being stabbed and won the Canadian Open and reached the US Final straight away so twas ever thus I guess.

Good win for Edmund. I really hope he can step up a level. But whether he'll be more than an occasional QF at best I have my doubts (but that's not the first doubts I've had this week.)

it shows how fragile the women's game is without serena...kvitova had the talent to be the next gen star, doubt if she would fulfil that potential now, muguruza has the same potential, let's hope she learns to shoulder the weight...

Kvitova will probably win this now, but have given up on her outside grass now sadly. Mugu is showing glimpses of potential greatness really, definitely has the game to be an absolute superstar. Svitolina also seems to be on the verge of breaking through for a while now.

Its a fun tour though, plenty of contenders for Slams, unlike the men where its same old.

Looks like Fed might go into a fifth here. Up two sets to one but down 4-1 and serving in the fourth.
