Good selection finally from the selectors, Rocky and Crane. Been calling for their selection since the beginning of the season.

Doesn't necessarily make them good selections then does it, seeing as you've also been championing Jennings and Wood...

I cannot recall either 'championing Jennings', or for that matter disagreeing with his selection either, on this forum: I cannot really recall even discussing him much to be honest. The only thing I said was, I defended him for being simply out of nick which has been the case since the latter matches of the Royal London Cup.

If England do not have a fit and firing Wood they may as well resign themselves to fielding a bowling attack consisting of medium pacers, v Pattinson, Cummins, Starc. Roland-Jones, with the greatest respect, is an outright dibbly-dobbler. How will he do at the Gabba one wonders?

He did for limited-overs.
For Tests, I meant. The answer of course is that we had Panesar and Swann.

Interesting to see if he's played his last Test, or if we go back to him as a horse for a course after going through several not-good-enough youngsters.

Well, I did have to mention that Rashid did get an early chance, because of the myth of the leg-spinner. He's not exactly been under-hyped himself in his career. He also hardly spun the ball at all, so don't think itwas just Swann and Panesar, looked a better batter than bowler in his early one-day stuff.

BIB You've answered your own question there. look it seems odd he was dropped after his best series, and outbowling Ali, but in the end his record still didn't quite cut it, of course he should have played ahead of Dawson though. Crane is a talent, but don't think he'd have been picked if he wasn't a leggie. Bess has ridiculous figures, so I guess he may come into it, not remotely ready yet though either.

Crane's an interesting one. He's got talent but I think is still a couple of years off being ready at least.

There is no point in picking a bowler just because he's quick when he produces garbage.

Likewise, picking someone just because they're young and a leg spinner is equally pointless.

Well then it is you who now has a problem with the English selectors as he, Mason Crane, has just been picked haha.

Mark Wood also has the decency to be injured and not dropped, and will no doubt, fitness pending, figure in England's Ashes plans.

Regarding Crane's selection, possibly it is a bit premature but I am of the view that he should be included in the Lord's test if the series is already secured - probably a good moment to rest Jimmy Anderson also. Bess is another one who should be looked at. Sometimes you have to take a bit of a wild punt on some of these youngsters: you never know what you'll find out!

More stories of bullshit from the selectors. Oh you're next in line and you would have been in the squad if it was 13. He scores a big century in a final the next day after being told that. A few weeks later, randomly pick Westley and Malan.

What the **** are these useless dickheads doing? Do they even know themselves? ****ing disgrace messing players about like that.

The selectors don't give batsman just two games anymore.
It'll be amazing if he bosses and pilfers runs against this under-achieving attack and actually ends up on an Ashes tour. His qualities at playing over-the-wicket stump to stump fast bowling will be handy.

And if they'd picked him out of position (as the 2 spaces that opened up were not for an opener) you'd have been whinging about that if he'd failed.

They could have easily moved Jennings to three though. I think Scaly is right that it was strange.
