I'm not too disappointed at being 260/6 with Bairstow at the crease with TRJ and Mo still to come and I think we should still be a good shout to get up to 350+. Only watched the first session but from what I saw 350 will have us right in the game.
Would like to think we can get to at least 320. 350 would be a whole lot better.

The over/under on England's first innings is 369.5. I'd take your hand off for that
Yeah, I'd be more than happy with that too.

This is the stage of an England innings that I really get excited about, the top of the order is a bit meh, and tbh you just don't expect too much until Root comes in. But the middle/lower order really is like a box of chocolates.........all out for 290 or bashing our way to 450+, either scenario is very much on the cards from here (though Stokes still in would certainly make the latter outcome more likely)

Not sure it will all matter looking at the forecast. Today is fine, rain during the last session tomorrow all the way through till lunch on Monday and Tuesday looks a washout. If it is correct of course.

Good way of putting it. :)

August is a mixed month on the weather front for sure.

I think England are well ahead in the game given RSA's batting line up.
You just don't know with SA. Amla's due a daddy at some point, and there are others who could also go way bigger than what we've seen to date.
And, as someone else mentioned, England could very easily fold for sub 300, especially against the new ball. Stokes' wicket was an absolute game changer.

That being said, the weather will probably render it all academic by Monday unless SA are batting early today, score big and quickly, and England collapse after tea on Sunday.

It will be easier for the batsmen to contribute when they actually get bat on ball.

Ah, there we go.

Going to regret post this this obviously, but this pitch isn't quick enough for their attack against the Beard.

Runs flowing now thanks to loose bowling, first few overs were excellent last few have been crap.

Another 50 for Bairstow, doubt he will get many more.
