Wonder whether Archer chooses England or West Indies. Dunno when he can play for England but I'd guess he just about walk into the team at that point. Most impressive for myself is the fact he has basically led the Sussex attack this season. He's regularly bowling 20-25 overs in a day when the other fast bowlers are bowling 15 or 16. To do that you a) have to be bowling well b) have the stamina to bowl 20-25 overs day in day out. (Watching the highlights and he seems to maintain the pace through the day.) I think it's very rare to find guys who can bowl mid 80s and maintain it through the day whilst hurrying batsman. Let alone a guy who is just 22 and has basically played one year of professional cricket. Also fields well and whacks the ball down the order. Could be a huge asset for whichever national team he ends up with.

Machan (wrist) joining the likes of Lumb and Greg Smith in retiring.

Good to see Crane back in the Hampshire side. Dropped for their last game, but playing instead of Afridi today. Crane 9 wickets @ 13.66 avg @ 5.85 economy so far this t20 season. Brilliant figures. Only guy in cricinfo's list of the top 32 wickettakers in the tournament with an econ of less than 6.

Good innings for Hose on debut today. Kinda thing you need at a new club especially when you've been unheralded to that point.

Joe Clarke putting it together now after a slow start to the season. Kohler-Cadmore leaving has left that spot open at teh top of the order in 20 over cricket.

Shiv Chanderpaul has retired from Test cricket because he doesn't want to play it any more, but enjoys batting so much that he is making hundreds for Lancashire's second XI.

A mark of what the WICB have achieved.

Well, the WICB gave every sign that they didn't want him to play it any more either - he retired several months after he was dropped.

Went along to Yorkshire vs Warks the other week, Willey got a hold of them. Was a good night, the make-up of the crowd was very very different to what you'd see in Australia though.

Pleased to see some live cricket on Sky given that it's been tipping down here for about six hours. First time I've seen Billy Root in action - if he and Joe ever bat together I guess it won't be hard to tell them apart.

Sibley joins Hose and Rhodes in moving to Warwickshire. Dominic Sibley leaves Surrey after Stewart refuses to give guarantees | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo

Hard to keep up with all the transfers.

Surrey seem to be doing allright for themselves still though. Footitt and Sibley leaving but Pillans and Mckerr have both done well on loan, and they have three or so guys in the current England u19s, Rikki clarke returning next year to cover for the Currans.

Somerset releasing a load of guys like Allenby, Myburgh etc when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

Good to see what Middlesex have done with Tom Barber. Released by Hampshire as a 19/20 year old in 2015 iirc he looked an ok bowler but nothing special. Most guys at that point are falling out of the game. But fortunately 2017 and Middlesex sign him and he looks to have a yard of pace and a smooth action. Really good pickup by them and obviously done some good work with some coaches. Podmore on the other hand has always looked so average imo.

Yes, he looks exactly the type England bang on about, good pace, bit of bounce. Helm looks okay too, overdoes the wierd stuff, sometimes best to just bowl quick when you can.

Yes Helm just looks laboured and his action has deteriorated. I've seen him run in much harder and bowl closer to the stumps. Billings alluded to the fact he wasn't bowling as quick as he'd seen him. Hopefully once the season ends the coaches work with him again.
Surrey getting a hammering.

Good to see Parkinson in the side for the CC today. We have sent Kerrigan out on loan for a month to Northants and he is in their side today.

Crane playing for Hampshire but hasn't had a bowl yet though Dawson has bowled 10. The rate we are collapsing he might not get to bowl either. Need a Shiv special again.

Losing two main bowlers in 5 legitimate balls was particularly special even by this season's Durham standards.
Is it some kinda record, 5 bowlers used in 13 balls at the start of the innings, 6 in 19.

Ryan Sidebottom, debuting as Ryan Sidebottom plays his last match at Scarborough.
