If India's current stock of decent quicks tells us anything, it's that England will finally find another decent opener. In like 20 years.

Someone on TMS reckons that Westley and Malan are the 19th and 20th batsmen (presumably top 6) picked by England in the last two and a half years.
That is rather a lot, and I'm not convinced I could name all of the other 18.

EDIT
The same commentator on TMS has just informed us that Jennings has faced 23 deliveries from Philander in the series and been dismissed 3 times for a total of 2 runs.
That's some definition of being Philander's rabbit, isn't it.

Taylor's premature retirement has hurt England so much.

I'm sure he does, as they talked about players who could reasonable be expected to make a hundred from time to time.
Does Woakes count then? Know he hasn't got one but got close once and looked a better player than most of the top order players who have gone through the revolving door of late.

I suspect they just meant people who had been picked to bat in the top 6 or 7 and then muddied the waters talking about hundreds.
