If we can make it to day 5 we would at least salvage some pride in this Test, but judging by those last few overs nobody should bet on it.

He was a different bowler in 2015 before his injury. Used to hit 140 almost effortlessly
Which of the multitude of injuries?

I'm afraid this is the problem of injury-prone players, and why I think they need avoiding, sooner or later it catches up with them.

Agreed, all I'd reasonably like to see now is a bit of fight. An ugly 300 ball hundred from Cook to take the game into day 5 would be perfect.

The 2nd test in UAE against Pakistan in October 2015 was his last test match. After that injury, this is his first test series.

Yea Cricinfo still has the Hawkeye for most of Wood's earlier matches which has all the bowling speeds on - he's a bit quicker in all of them. He does tend to drop off in pace slightly after 10-15 overs of bowling.

Although having said that he bowled a bit quicker in the second innings of this match than he did in the first.

Basing this on the 2015 Ashes and the 2015 series vs Pakistan. He was consistently quick
He was but the 2017 version is nowhere near the same bowler. He should be dropped and sent back to Durham to either find some form/rhythm and return later on in the summer or dropped for good. Either way he shouldn't play in this series again.

Not a days Test cricket I will look back on fondly, probably the worst I have ever been to actually. Not that it was anyone other than England's fault, it was not that the actual cricket was particularly bad it is was just the complete lack of any tension until those last 4 overs.

Stokes was great though.

Wood was not.

Also that 'oh that was so close' thing Wood does with his arm after every harmless delivery gets really annoying after a while.

I feel like Bairstow does something like that every time the ball crashes off the middle of the bat, I'm pretty sure he said lovely bowling Mo to that full toss he served up this test match though. They probably all do it I guess Jonny just has an annoying voice.

Who do people want to replace Wood? Immediate name that hits me is Ball but surely he is barely better. Can anyone confirm anything over Woakes? I heard he's possibly out for the series.

Ball isn't fit. Woakes is defo out for the series. Not bowling at full tilt and there is no FC cricket to prove his fitness even if he was fully healed. It will almost certainly be TRJ as he's been in the squad.

Can't imagine Dawson is going to get another game either so expect another batter to be called up and a potential rejig of the batting lineup.

Again what a pointless selection Liam Dawson turned out to be. I said the same thing last game but I'll ask it again: Why do they think they need 6 bowlers? Do they really think a 6th bowling option is more valuable than an extra batsman? Surely a whole extra batsman could have been invaluable here.
