We are in deep trouble here. Might be good if we can bat 20 more overs and score 60ish more then get them batting again and hope we can make early inroads in these conditions.

It does and it's annoying as hell but our Nos 1, 2 & 6 scoring a total of 3 runs between them also bites us hard.
Also Bairstow gets out a lot for 40-50, I was fine with this whilst he was batting at 7 but if he's going to be a long term No.5 then he needs to start kicking on as well.

I think we'd all take that right now. Realistically, you can see Phillander and Morkel finishing off the innings pdq after tea.
I still reckon we put ourselves in this trouble on Day 1, despite Jimmy's catch-up act this morning. Some of our batting hasn't been the smartest, but it was never going to be easy out there and Big Vern's rescue act with the bat yesterday felt like a match winning contribution to me.

That really was gorgeous I had to rewind it 4 times, he should get extra style points, i'm too young to have seen Gower so for me Moeen's been the best England batsman on the eye in my 20 odd years watching cricket, Bell doesn't even come close.The Beards cover drives should be "R rated", orgasmic
These two wickets to maharaj have lost us the match I reckon, first one was utterly unnecessary.

All true. I suppose the problem is that Bairstow and Moeen are both absolutely perfect at number 7, but wasted at number 8, which would probably be where Moeen bats if we brought in another batsman and relegated Bairstow to number 7 again. Unless Moeen bats at 5, I suppose.

Moeen hasn't looked so great at 5 before either. Anyway this is **** England, Root's chucked his wicket away and you're never going to win cricket matches when no 1, 2, 3 and 6 only contribute 30 between them.
Anyway the mighty Mo is going to ton up whilst the rest score troll runs around him.
