I reckon that was a great session for us. Batting is gonna get a hell of a lot easier as the day goes on, and 2 wickets down in that first session......I'm taking that.

Apparently this was the lowest combined contribution from our openers since 2005. I'm genuinely surprised by that.

But it was bizarre in the first place - the doubts were borne of no reasonable evidence
1 poor day at the office. Even the Great Glenn Mcgrath copped this crap once he hit that "age".........stupid that people forget 2 or 3 years of top performance, just for a few sessions where things don;t go so well.

Haha it was interesting to contrast your post with the one that immediately followed it and set the whole discussion off.

> "Wood hasn't been very effective, he's in danger of dropping down the pecking order and not being first reserve seamer anymore"
> "Wood should move up the pecking order ahead of Anderson"

Tbf I don't think anyone actually outright said that Jimmy should definitely be dropped for the next test

Gotta work at 6am tomorrow, it's 10.20pm here in Aus, but I just made a pledge with myself I'm not going to bed while Roots at the crease..........could end up with 2 hours sleep here if he bats through. Lucky there's only 2 more beers in the fridge.

Shame to have to work on a Sunday.

Root looking a different class. But poor bowling from the 3/4 bowler. Missing Rabada. Still prefer Olivier for the 4th seamer more than Morris. Morris feels like a really good LO 5/4th bowling allrounder. I don't see him as a consistent Test bowling/batting allrounder he is not quite good enough in either discipline.
