What kind of rain forecast.. was really looking forward to the decider. Would hate it washed off.

Of course, there has to be something fishy when Pakistan are involved. They aren't allowed to be incompetent.
Don't take these things seriously mate. It's not even that Pak were incompetent .WI were just good. Excellent knock from Hope on Day 4. To get 260+ on Day 4 with the way the pitch was behaving, the partnership between Chase and Holder on Day 1, Gabriel's bowling. This team is good and just because no one watches them or knows anything about them, they don't get the appreciation.

We've had our hopes up before that Windies are going up again. I need to see more of the quality a for a few more tests

Yeah that's true and I'll be wary of making posts like 'West Indies are coming back'

But if we're judging the current Test side, and having watched them over the last 1 year, this is a decent team. They still have weaknesses, they still do unforgivable things in test cricket - no balls, taking wickets of no balls, dropping catches, over throws, but there are things worth appreciating.

Even against India, they dismantled their top order once or twice only to let Ashwin/Saha off the hook and do a recovery job. So these shortcomings are still there and they will continue to lose most of their Test series at least in the near future.

WIndies still look pretty poor on paper IMO. They're at least trying now though, if (huge if though admittedly) the WICB doesn't **** them up they'll start to come good.

Pakistan are pretty average at the moment, lets see how West Indies do in England before talk of a recovery.

Well done Windies. It is amazing to see how much Pakistan has fallen since being world no 1 having lost 7 of their last 8 tests and with the two oldies retiring from the middle order there is some fragility there.

I've been watching most of this Test, but had to get away from it to pick up the missus from the airport...., at 20/2. Figured to back at tea, but didn't expect to see Pakistan had been shot out for 80 or so!

Sounds like a top performance from WI.

While it's hard not to be cynical and expect that their board will find a way to ruin things, there are clearly some young players with ability and a strong desire to perform in test cricket, and Holder is gradually succeeding in getting them to perform all together.
I can see some of these guys, Holder in particular, finding their ways in the international T20 circus.

I disagree. Holder will look out of place in the t20 circuit. He's not got the pace or the destructive hitting ability to be effective in the t20 world.

Please don't say that. Haven't they lost enough players to that?

However this is utterly ridiculous. You don't need pace and he could probably easily adapt his game if he really wanted to be a T20 merchant.

Of course he can adapt. But it will be a easier decision to make if he were a ready-made t20 style player. All the times I've seen Holder, he finds it very hard to hit fours and sixes on demand. He needs time. He's a lot more successful playing tests and thus t20s are not going to be as tempting for him I imagine.

As for the medium pace thing, maybe it's just me but I see more and more of these guys getting clobbered in the t20 circuit.
