***Official*** Pakistan in West Indies 2017

Pakistan may in all likelihood go on to win the next test ; TBF they are the better team. But at the very least, a very very weak and inexperienced WI showed guts to square the series. I am very pleased.

Wow great from WI. Watched only third day and it looked like batting last would be very difficult. Credit to WI for throwing a decent target and bowling out Pakistan.

Overnight I had given West Indies about a 20% chance of winning, but when I turned on the TV and saw no Cricket, I was thinking Pakistan had probably chased down the runs inside 40 overs.

So happy for WI, everyone contributed to the victory in some way but most happy for my boi Gabriel.

Babar with a pair, he is finding Test Cricket miles harder than ODIs.

tbf to Babar, his first class stats don't justify his selection in the test team. I hope they didn't just select him based on ODI performances.

current windies have turned from lazy ne'er do wells to plucky underdogs under holder and i respect that a lot, especially with the young players they are bringing through who seem to enjoy test cricket like roston "the man the myth the legend" chase

while it is a far cry from absolutely fisting everyone like they did thirty to forty years ago it's better than that time they picked andre russell
i'all take that media deal whenever you're ready cricinfo

nah brilliant by the windies though again these newer players seem to love their tests and now they've got a bowling spearhead workhorse who, though is quite injury prone, won't bitch about bowling in to the wind like kemar roach

All I managed to catch was Gabriel's beaut to Yasir. I feel like that's all I needed to see.

Yeah Bishoo was very threatening even in the first inning. It won't be an easy chase.

In 92 (Ambrose) and 97 (Bishop and Kuruvilla earlier for India) did the most damage. So watch out for Gabriel as well. He has the perfect bowling type to extract wickets on this day 5 wicket.
Good bit of prognostication.

Now that's off my chest, time for some comments and ratings :D . Well as I said in my post yesterday I felt like we blew it because even though the pitch was tough to bat on, I was convinced that the experience of Khan and Ul-Haq would be enough to see them over the line when having to chase anything under 230. But boy was I wrong!!. The boys just came out with all guns blazing and if you think about it they looked tentative in the first test when chasing on the fourth innings. They may have won by seven wickets but losing three wickets whilst chasing 36 did make me wonder about whether they would be able to hack it if we'd set them a modest target...and today showed that they really are vulnerable.

Some ratings

Brathwaite= Good to see the lad finally get in and make a gritty score that help set up the innings in the second dig

Powell= Was disappointed in the way he got out in the second innings but he did battle well in the first innings despite only getting 30 odd

Hetmyer= Brilliant catch to get Ali today and tbh I thought he's bravery and confidence to play his natural game when we lost Powell early in the second innings was really encouraging. I think it's only a matter of time until we see this kid really sparkle at this level

Hope= WHAT AN INNINGS!!..imo it was perhaps the most crucial moment of the game. If he'd have failed again like he did in his previous innings the game is lost right there and then. But the lad buckled down and played a brilliant knock that put pressure right back on Pakistan. And now we can only hope (pun intended) that he will gain confidence from this and push on now.

Chase= Wonderful knock in the first innings. Maybe just as crucial as Hope's because of the position we were in at the time. He's developing into a really classy batsman but I hope he'll work a little more on his bowling as we need him to chip in with a few wickets if he's to be considered a decent 5th option.

Singh= Like Hope he'd had a nightmare few innings but like Kraigg he buckled down and grinded out a score that helped push us to that 188 lead. Hope he can push on too as his style of batting is badly needed in the middle order I think

Dowrich= Done alright I guess. Wasn't pleased with his dismissal in the second dig but Shane has been very decent for us since he replaced Ramdin and long may that continue

Holder= Just brilliant by the skipper. Another 50 in the first dig and two 3fers is a very good return indeed. Since he got that 5fer against Pakistan away he's started to take wickets much more regularly now and what's impressive about him is he's economy rate is always decent. Had plenty of doubts about him but he's proving me wrong now and I'm very happy to see that. His tactical nouse is also improving imo

Bishoo= Done ok in the first innings..three wickets isn't bad but once again he was a little on the expensive side. If Cornwall didn't have weight problems I think Bishy would be under big pressure tbh

Joseph= Still finding his feet at Test level but what I'm seeing from this young man is really giving me hope that he can become the real deal in the not too distant future. He could have had four in that second innings and the more he plays at this level the more he's learning and getting better.

Gabriel= Well Gabby is on fire isn't he? Can only thank the bowling coaches for how much they've improve this young man. He's fast, much more accurate now and is moving the ball too. Just wonderful to see the guy blossom into a very decent test bowler at a time when we desperately needed one after Roach went off the rails.

Just want to see Bravo get back now to see just how good this team could be with our best team on the field. They will be many ups and downs but with this squad being so young we can only be hopeful that many more wins will come our way over the next few years. Remember, We've beaten a side who have two players (Khan and Ul-Haq) who have played more tests than our entire team put together. The gap in experience is ridiculous but yet we've managed to compete against them and that really is heartening.

Great to see the Windies winning a tough Test like that. Very similar Test to the recent India/Oz Bangalore Test a couple of months ago, right down to the away side falling well short of chasing down 188 to win.

All the focus had been on the Windies collapse late yesterday but in truth the hard work in the first 5 hours building up the lead was the real decisive period of the match.

Seeing how the ball kept low and seamed for some of the wickets just further underlined what a mistake omitting Wahab Riaz. Would've been perfect bowler yesterday to bowl an intense spell that extracted something like that from the pitch.

If Pakistan lose this surely Arthur has to be under pressure; he was lucky to get another role like this after the disastrous way his Oz role ended and Pakistan's Test results have been increasingly disappointing under his tenure.

I watched the entire day's play. While I thought Pakistan were going to win it, I had a feeling that it was going to be very entertaining as is always the case with Pakistan. I can't really blame Pakistan a lot though. They were put under a lot of pressure from the get-go with some really good bowling. There just wasn't any bad balls. Shehzad got off the mark with his 20th ball or something. Azhar and Babar were the only really soft dismissals.

If Gabriel and Co. can bowl like this in the next test, there's no reason why Windies can't win this series.

Of course, there has to be something fishy when Pakistan are involved. They aren't allowed to be incompetent.

Its pretty much his limited over form which has got him into the team. They may as well play Salahuddin next test for him as he is coming off a beast first class season.

Yepp knew this was going to happen. 180 too much on Day 5 for a team that has a history of Day 5 collapses.

Target should have been within 120 maximum.

Lead in 1st innings wasn't enough and WI got a bit too much in the second innings on a crumbling pitch

Sounds like a top performance from WI.

While it's hard not to be cynical and expect that their board will find a way to ruin things, there are clearly some young players with ability and a strong desire to perform in test cricket, and Holder is gradually succeeding in getting them to perform all together.

He is most definitely selected for his ODI. Pakistan don't understand difference between formats. There is no way he has played enough to be be a Test number 3.

WI have a very decent bowling attack and I have been praising Gabriel for a long time now. If this team had at least a decent middle order with Bravo, Chase and Blackwood, they can be a pretty decent test team.

Congrats to all the Windies fans guys. I know how sweet this must feel
