Would be the 3rd 26 year old to cross 5000 runs, Tendulkar and Cook before him. Root in with a great chance too.4990 test runs now for Kane...
Yeah, it's good stuff by Raval grinding them down but ideally he would be rotating the strike a bit more. Proceeding at 2.8 rpo really isn't good enough.Really think we need to grab the bull by the horns here and attack a little. More overs will still be lost in this match and if we're any chance to draw this series we need to find ways to make up time.
Yeah we should really be pushing to get a lead by tonight and have them back in around lunch tomorrow.Yeah, it's good stuff by Raval grinding them down but ideally he would be rotating the strike a bit more. Proceeding at 2.8 rpo really isn't good enough.
awta. We're still 140 runs behind so talk of accelerating is a little premature imo. I'd be very happy with another 30 overs at 3 an over here and wickets conserved. See off the early overs of the second new ball too, to make it easier for hitters coming in after.btw, for the time being I'm happy for us to just keep batting well. Last thing I want is a panic induced collapse premised on intent.
Yeah the only reason to get aggressive here is if we reckon there's going to be a particular amount of rain that still gives us a chance but only if we score faster. And even if that's the case, we have no idea how much rain or how fast we need to score. Seems a spurious basis for a dangerous change of approach from a dodgy batting side.awta. We're going to need things to go right with the weather anyway, so start to consider the forecast once (if) we get in front.
Currently looking like we may lose an hour at the end of the next 2 days. So basically a session. Think he has quite a high proportion of double hundreds in his FC tons.Closer followers of FC cricket might correct me (his FC record is sort of neither here nor there on this point- fairly normal conversion rate) but Raval strikes me as someone who grinds so hard for his runs that he'll find it hard to make big hundreds. Mark Richardson was sort of the same at test level, where every 70 or 80 felt like such an epic struggle that Big Daddy Hundreds felt like a bridge too far.
For an NZ opener that's fine tbh.
Yeah, but his conversion rate generally is only middling. Maybe he's just someone who only hits his stride once he's got through the first 250 balls.Think he has quite a high proportion of double hundreds in his FC tons.
Na just the 2 at Eden Park Outer Oval.Think he has quite a high proportion of double hundreds in his FC tons.
It's true in part, though he had a surprisingly good domestic T20 competition this year, so (unlike Richardson) he does have some ability to play an attacking style of innings.Closer followers of FC cricket might correct me (his FC record is sort of neither here nor there on this point- fairly normal conversion rate) but Raval strikes me as someone who grinds so hard for his runs that he'll find it hard to make big hundreds.
