Yes really. I don't see it. Read it multiple times and he was nothing but respectful to get to his point . I think you are finding this offensive because Australia are involved in the series. If some English player had done what Maxwell did and VVS said the same thing, maybe you'll find it less offensive? I don't know how you are seeing it.

I don't see how people can read what he's said and not think it's inappropriate.

He could have just said "don't make fun of other players getting injured" and made his point. By bringing Hughes into it to make his point, he's implicitly comparing the situations.

Well, yes, obviously, because said English players would not have been playing in the game where Hughes died.

Context matters.

I am really trying to see it from the other side, I really am. Maybe it wasn't the most sensitive but I don't really see how it was all that inappropriate. He took the comparison to an extreme, which perhaps he shouldn't have, but I'm just not seeing any disrespect.

WITH THAT SAID, If I was Laxman, I'd call the Aussie dressing room and apologize because I think it's clearly being taken in a way it was never meant - but you have to respect those feelings from people who went through that situation a lot closer than you did.

Not offensive but objectively dumb. Talking about Hughes in this context makes 0 sense. See Laxman was too thick to realise that he shouldn't trust tailenders. That worked out well enough. So he is checking whether stupidity can carry him through this commentary stint.

If Australia win this test match, it is going to be down to Cummins' brilliance imo. Starc could not have done what he did here, at least not from what I've seen of him in recent form. He's all the difference between India racking up 700 vs Eng and this here.

Good timing by the ECB to be pushing for the idiotic 4-day Test idea during a fascinating match like this which explicity shows the benefits of 5 day Test cricket. It's been slowish at times but overall has been a fascinating Test, particularly today.

For Australia, Cummins was great, Hazlewood really lifted after Tea but I thought the spinners were disappointing, albeit that SOK generally kept it tight for most of the day.

India would be disappointed that none of the rest of the middle order was able to stick around for lengthy periods with Pujara who displayed a masterclass in patience and building momentum in a Test innings today. For someone with claims and record of being a genuine all-rounder, Ashwin hasn't looked like it with the bat all series.

Reckon draw's a pretty decent bet now.

VVS does have an excuse as last I heard, he was living in Burgey's neck of the woods and you need to be an absolute **** to survive a day around there

Wait, what? VVS Laxman lives in Balmain? Jesus that would be ****ing brilliant if true. Only A Listers here, babeh.

I'll find him and get him to coach Burgeinho. I wonder if he wants to have a game next year.

He certainly was and may still be

He was interviewed during a Matador Cup game played at Drummoyne a while ago
