Maharaj to Nicholls, FOUR, floated up outside off, Nicholls nips down the track and shovels it over midwicket
Good to see that PEWS has got a job in the cricinfo comm box

So stoked for Nicholls. Really hope he carries on to a big one.
I agree, great to see after all his trials and tribulations. There were times I thought keeping in the Blackcaps seemed to be destroying his self belief, so I'm really glad to see him come up with a stand out performance like this.

Disappointed this post wasn't about Matt Henry tbh

He's no Aaron Heal.
Good from you.

An what basis though... just don`t like the look of him, don`t think he flights, spins the ball enough?
My favourite player is a left-arm spinner who doesn't spin them, so you'd think I'd be on board. But the big difference is that I don't think Maharaj's deliveries carry on much after hitting the deck, they more-or-less just sit up. And they don't spin, so batsmen should have plenty of time to adjust/re-adjust.

But if it works...

it's really hard to tell with SLA. many of the best ones throughout history have looked so unthreatening, think it's mostly a mind game of tricking the batsman into thinking you turn it then bowling a straight one on middle.

He works for SA at the moment... he can spin and drift the ball and he does not mind attacking when needed. But more importantly he has done well at closing up an end to allow the SA quicks to do the work. But he has not reached the levels of Symcox or Paul Harris yet....

Haha, a gem on cricinfo.

Fraser: "One for us maths nerds! Nicholls 89 off 144. Two consecutive Fibonacci numbers, meaning his strike rate is the Golden Ratio. I'm probably the only one here who appreciates that, but still . . "
