Even more amazing that this success of tactics, plans & determination is coming from possibly the most stubborn, hard-headed and boofish team in the history of the game
Really? I can't remember a team so full of mild-mannered introverts playing for Australia ever.

He's more talking about their slavish adherence to "play your natural game" in away series over the last half-decade.

um, what about Maxwell
aw **** forgot about him

Yeah he should be in the team. Lyon should be safe for another Test but if he doesn't dominate it then replace him with Maxwell IMO.

More so the team management and philosophy than the players themselves. Though it looks like that might have changed significantly now.

Maxwell should play, but it does feel incongruous that they would turn to him when they've really settled on absolutely knuckling down and grinding out runs over hours and hours as their general approach to the conditions. Khawaja would be much more suited to that, if he could actually bat against spin (and the lack of a 5th bowling option really would be a problem IMO)

Maxwell couldn't replace a battery right now if he wanted to, let alone play test cricket.

Maxwell should be playing third test. It does cause a big problem though... does he bat below Wade?

I'm happy with the way we bowled in the first two sessions. Kohli needed to stop Ashwin though, he was getting progressively desperate and worse. Can't complain too much considering the pathetic batting performance.

A specialist batsman. Khawaja is a walk-in to this Aus side anywhere else in the world so one of the top-6 will have to be dropped for him next series regardless.

Henriques would be a decent bet as he is a far superior batsman to M.Marsh. His bowling average is almost irrelevant, all they need from him is a few tight overs.
Yeah, Khawaja is really good outside subcontinent and I really am not sure this attack needs 5 over spell bowler who is averaging 22.

Mitch Marsh in these 2 tests has ensured that Australia are going into the game with 10 men and are still dominating to their credit. In very spin friendly conditions Maxwell can't be that bad an option to turn to with his part time spin and quickfire 40s, on this pitch it would've been gold.

A quickfire 40 would be useful. A slow 40 would also be useful.

What would not be useful is 10(8).

We lost this test on the batting, but attempting to bowl dry and build pressure off the back of what we saw Aus do in the first test and with just 189 on the board didn't impress me

It's as tho these guys didn't devise any proper plans for the Aus batsmen and just expected them to **** themselves at the sight of spin and bounce, and to throw their wickets away when the boundaries werent flowing

I wasn't impressed
