I dont mind it if the touring side does not ask for stuff specifically. But if the touring sides wants to practice on certain type of wickets and wants to have the practice game in certain place etc. and it is being denied for the reason of ensuring they remain under prepared for the series, then it is an issue. But if a touring side does not make the effort to hash out the kind of warm ups they want before the series starts, then screw them with such conditions and opposition by all means.
I think I agree with all that. I guess this is where Aus going to Dubai showed they put the effort in, and weren't relying on India providing them everything on a platter.

Is this not exactly what happened to NZ?
No. Key word is deliberately. IIRC the issues with that practice game were just **** ground and square preparation in general.

lol nope

conditions you can't control are fine, but actually going out of your way to hamper a touring side's practice through pitch preparation is unthinkably wrong IMO. I would be disgusted and embarrassed if Australia did it for example.
What a load of bullshit. Very few players have had the privilege of playing in grounds that organically grew into the cricket stadiums that we see today. Every pitch has been tinkered or relaid at some point and some pitches are made by types of soils(black/red soil pitches etc) found in other parts of the world or the country where the ground is. Everyone has went out of their ways to do what they think is best. Its a stupid thing to focus on when talking about pitch preparation. All I am saying is that no pitch is 100% natural and if you want to play on 'natural' pitches, you must actually play on uncovered tracks.

None of what you said here has anything to do with anything I said, at all

I'm always a fan of dropping Mitch Marsh, but in this scenario retaining him is the right call.

He didn't bat all that badly in the first test, and they'll need his bowling if this turns out to be a road.
Na, I disagree we need his bowling. Maxi or Agar can bowl and you don't need a seam up bowler. You're just giving Haze and Starc a rest and providing something different.

Additionally if someone was proven to have done that, deliberately impaired a touring side's practice they should be punished. Heavily.

You think that's somehow relevant? That a pitch of a certain type was prepared deliberately to impair New Zealand's preparation?

You're smarter than that
The preparation we provided NZ and Pakistan on their most recent tours here was sub-standard.

No, they scheduled them at Blacktown, which has been notoriously slow and low every time it's been used for domestic cricket. They were then playing their next match at the Gabba.

Ah this cute idea that if a pitch suits the Australian team it is natural but if it suits the opposition is it doctored has reared it's bullshit head yet again

And you think this was a deliberate ploy to withhold quality preparation from the touring side? If so, that's fine, but otherwise your post is irrelevant and serves no purpose

I think I'll be in the stand somewhere around backward-square-leg/extra-cover. Hope I get a good view. Can't wait.

A pitch is doctored if the nature of the pitch changes depending on which country you are playing. The pertinent question is would the same pitch have been seen in the first test if it was Sri Lanka and not Australia. I have not seen enough cricket at the ground to know if that is how the pitch normally plays or if it was some bullshit stunt.

That makes literally no sense. So all pitches are doctored?

I heard the second test will be a sporting one, so that she be fun. If is then Australia will be eyeing for another win. They are probably high on confidence right now. But then again, people also need to understand that all their main batsman bar Steve Smith and Renshaw struggled to produce scores. India for all we know just had a poor test match.

Should this be a 3 Test series?

It was quite baffling at the time because he was a dominant First-class bowler who hadn't really done much in T20s, yet got selected to play in the T20 team for some reason
While Lyon won his place in the Test side on the back of how he looked in the T20 competition.
