***Official*** South Africa in New Zealand 2017

I hope Neesham sees he has a chance to prove himself and takes it. Will depend on whether the others can hang around too.

This little bit of movement is killing NZ... good accurate bowling from SA though, but still.

Ummmmm, good bowling South Africa.

They've extracted something from the conditions that NZ didn't. Still, some very ugly shots in there.

I've endured countless collapses in my couple of decades as a fan of this team, but it never gets easier. Well bowled SA.

Pretty impressive performance by SA. It seems like play the all-rounders and at least one will contribute with the bat ploy will continue to work as well.

Well that's a **** score to wake up to - was intending to watch a decent chunk of the second innings but we'd already lost by the time I got up. So that sucks, but on the positive side I did find this photo of Ferguson amusing for some reason:

the angle and timing of the photo makes it look like he's being abducted by aliens

I was going to post in the 'Hesson, is it time' thread that while I've been a fan of NZ's selections for most of Hesson's regime, I think it's gotten a bit (sometimes a lot) woolly over the last 12 months. Spinner selection is possibly the single most haphazard example with all the chopping and changing between Craig, Santner, Sodhi, Patel and Todd Astle across all three formats, sometimes for as little as one match at a time. Only Santner has benefited from consisted selection - the other four must be completely confused about where they stand.

Bringing Patel into the squad here is another such WTF - we have two limited overs spinners finally performing well in Santner and Sodhi, so what on earth is the point of bringing in Patel?

It's certainly making Bruce Edgar look the brains in the former partnership/ panel.

Now with Edgar coaching Wellington, and then winning titles, he's looking a good bet for next blackcaps coach.

An Edgar / Bond coaching ticket would be a dream come true for me. But would still need to prise Larsen out of the selection gig.
